FAN FIC: The Last Starfighter

I have been wanting to do this fan cast for a long time because it is one of the first movies I can remember it came out the year I was born and has become a cult classic amongst the movie fans. I think this is one film that could stand to take a reboot/remake and update it a bit for this generation with the new CGI/3D technology that has been coming out over the past few years.

Plot:
A video-gaming boy, seemingly doomed to stay at his trailer park home all his life, finds himself recruited as a gunner for an alien defense force.

Alex Rogan / Beta Alex:Ryan Merriman
It took a lot of thinking and a long list of possible actors to fill this role but I finally settled on Ryan Merriman he has a lot of the same acting skills that mimic Lance Guest while bringing is own talents to the role as well. This could be is big break into the lime light.


Centauri:Ian McKellen
I was trying to think of an actor who could fill the shoes of Robert Preston who brought the character to life and Ian popped into my head right away. He even has the look down in this picture I found of him. He would work well as the mentor figure to Ryan Merriman's version of Alex.


Maggie Gordon:Emma Watson
Maggie is the female lead and connection to Alex's world for the viewer and Emma Watson would be able to draw the female crowd in for this female as well as this being another franchise for her to delve into since the HP series is over.


Grig:Doug Jones
Doug Jones is a brilliant performance actor and voice actor to this role would be a good marriage of both because it would require a lot of make up time which Doug is certainly use too. He would own this role and make it one of the stand out characters of the film.


Lord Kril:Tim Curry
Lord Kril is the films villain and Tim Curry has the right voice and acting presence for the part it would also be a role that required a lot of make up and prosthetics however he is use to because he played Darkness in Legend.
