Fancast: Banshee: Flying Solo

Casting Banshee and his supporting cast before he encounters the first class of Xavier's Academy and long before he joins the team himself.

I enjoyed casting Warpath back in November http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ager/news/?a=25078 I found that 2-parter to be exciting and thought about doing more one-shots. I did a Gambit: X-Men Origins 2-parter http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ager/news/?a=22910 as well. If you can't accept the Gambit and Sabretooth casting from Origins (I kept them as to stay fluid) than you can at least respect the story I've come up with. Many X-Men could have their own movies. After this I may do another.

I've changed his beginnings a bit

Info from Wiki

A former Interpol agent and private eye, Banshee was always a decade older than most of the X-Men and had only a relatively short tenure as a full-time X-Man.
Sean Cassidy is the heir to both a small fortune and a castle in Cassidy Keep, Ireland. In his youth, he marries Maeve Rourke and takes a job with Interpol as an Inspector. His long time rival and cousin, Tom, was never happy over the loss of the woman he, too, loved. Perhaps her love love for Tom never truly went away either. Soon, Cassidy goes away on a long mission (with contact to anyone aside from Moira MacTaggert and his partner prohibited) in which he was sought out by Moira on behalf of "an old colleague who knows the target well." Interpol was tasked to retrieve (by any means necessary) the man known as Kevin Sidney. He was to be tracked by his actions as his appearance was unknown.

Moira explains that it was his mutant powers that allowed her "associate" to locate him and that he was the only agent in Europe capable of apprehending the morph.

Tom takes advantage of the young bride who does not know if her husband will return. One drunk night weeks after Sean leaves sees to that. She discovers she is pregnant and gives birth to their daughter, Theresa Cassidy (who may or may not be Tom's; Tom believes she is his). When she tells Tom that it was a mistake and that Sean must never know she is killed in an IRA bombing. With no means to contact Sean, his cousin Tom takes care of Theresa as his own.

Meanwhile, Sean is fighting the feelings he is having for Dr. MacTaggert. He confesses to his partner that he is a mutant. His own wife and family don't even know the truth, but if it comes down to exposing his powers in front of his partner in order to capture the morph, he will do what must be done. He does use his power (of flight) to arrest Sidney but not before the villain kills his partner.

Sean returns 13 years later expecting to mend a broken marriage only to learn of his wife’s death, he is devastated. Sean brawls with Tom. As the 2 men duke it out, Sean knocks him over the railing and mistakenly reveals his gift of flight as he tries to fly away. Before he can get enough distance, Tom, dazed and holding back the pain of his broken leg, grabs the roots of a nearby tree. His body changes into the color and texture of the bark he grips and the vines and trees grow and entrap the mutant flyer, suffocating him. Sean lets out the Banshee scream which shreds the plant life and bloodies the ear of his cousin. He flies away leaving both to ponder about the others power. Young Theresa runs down to her Papa, who is slowly losing conciseness, and lets out her own bloody scream, shaking the surroundings.

Banshee: Bloodline

Cassidy leaves Interpol and becomes a freelance detective. Over time he drifts into the arms of Dr. Moira MacTaggert. Meanwhile, his cousin, Tom Cassidy and his daughter (whom Tom now knows is truly Sean's but continues to hide the truth from Sean and the child) befriend a goliath of man calling himself the Juggernaut and hunt down Sean.

Banshee later learns Theresa is ,in fact, his child after narrowly evading the trio. In the final confrontation, he is able to reach out to his daughter with the help of Charles Xavier and the 2 combine their sonic screams with his telepathy to take down the enemies.

In the final moments Charles telepathically tells Moira that even though he can see how much Sean means to her he needs his help in saving his students. Moira agrees to become the foster mother of Theresa during the mission. Sean promises to come back to THEM and leaves them both with a kiss.

Note that this story can tie in with Warpath BUT I have selected duplicate actors. My Xavier stays the same as I really like that choice

Charlie Hunnam as Sean Cassidy

Hunnam is not my ideal Banshee (as in part of the established X-men) however, he is my ideal Sean Cassidy. See, these movies will span across 14+ years and I need, not only a great actor, but one that could look both young and fresh and older (than what he is) and pained.

As I wrote, Banshee is a decade or so older than the other X-Men whom he met when they were teens, so a Banshee in his late 30's early 40's doesn't work for his first appearance. He starts out very early 20's and ends the movie mid-30's.

Hunnam is also much more defined as my other Banshee pick. This Sean can lead a movie, not just be relegated to "an additional character." He is 31 years old and 6'1".

Tahmoh Penikett as Tom Cassidy

Penikett is also a peculiar pick for the evil cousin but I would like a younger (closer to the age of Hunnam) Tom and one that is similarly built, neither one looks as if he could dominate the other. He is 36 years old )the right age to be a jerk who has to take everything from his younger cousin through sheer competition. He is 6'3".

Rachel Nichols as Maeve Cassidy

So so so beautiful. She can also play young. I know I shouldv'e cast a younger girl to actually play the character but I didn't want Hunnam to appear old next to a younger female. Seeing what Maeve goes through, viewers have to connect and feel for her and I think Nichols can pull that off.

Barry Pepper as Kevin Sidney

Man, I just think the guy is so underrated. Any time I can fit him in I do. He's fine in many roles. In this one he has to be THE bad guy in the first movie. I think he can be bad enough to make Xavier nervous. a lame character would be given a great actor to make him worth it.

Emily Blunt as Moira MacTaggert

Blunt is a great actress and I don't get why she is either loved or hated, but I love her. I don't think she is stunningly, drop-dead gorgeous but she ain't ugly boys and girls. She's what I picture Moira to be. You won't focus on her body you'll get taken away by her skills as an actress (with minor glances only =]). She also looks like she could be with both Sean and Charles.

Ellie Fanning as (13 year old) Theresa Cassidy

I don't know much about her skills as an actress but I can say with confidence that if she is half as good as her sister than she would rock on this role. She can also look like the child of Nichols and Hunnam. Her sister is so freakishly impressive that she gets the role just on my hunch. Theresa would be a MAJOR plot point in the second movie and her scene at the end of the 1st would have to be convincing enough to bring in fans to the sequel.

Nathan Jones as Juggernaut

Because I couldn't find a better person. I tried, just to be different but perfect is perfect. look at this pic. With only 2 years between he and my Xavier pick it seems as good a choice as any.

Norman Reedus as Cassidy's partner

He's here simply because he IS my Banshee. He's 42 so he's older than what my film calls for so he's in as the veteran partner. It's as simple as that. I love this guy. If Cassidy's childhood mattered, I would've made him his dad or something, but it's irrelevant.

Daniel Craig as Professor X

You'll notice that he was my choice back in November. Again, don't get confused because, although my Warpath and Banshee films could relate they don't despite having cast Craig both times. Hunnam and Reedus were in there as Shatterstar and Banshee respectively.

but he certainly fits!

Good fancast AGER@.

I'd like to see a British actor for
BLACK TOM.

I love the look of your Banshee pick. Can't say I'm familiar with his work, but he looks like a superhero!

My only quarrel is with Nathan Jones. I warn you, this man cannot act. He would make Vinnie Jones' Juggernaut performance look Oscar worthy!

But cool cast man!
