First off, I wasn't happy with my previous Spiderman cast, so I decided to do a new one.I've added a few more characters and changed some choices. And if you are going to complain that my Spiderman is the same one for the 2012 reboot, then please kindly leave.
Heroes:
Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spiderman: A young man who was bitten by a radioactive spider, giving him arachnid-like abilities. At first, he decides to use his abilities for profit, but the death of Ben Parker, his uncle, inspires him to fight crime as Spiderman.
Reason for Casting: I know that he's already been casted as Spidey, but he was the best pick out of all the actors on the shortlist. He gave fantastic and oscar-worthy performances in
Boy A and
The Social Network. Plus, he can do an American accent (as seen in the
Doctor Who episodes
Daleks in Manhattan and
Evolution of the Daleks.
Ellen Burstyn as May Parker: Peter's loving aunt and adoptive mother.
Reason for Casting: Burstyn is an amazing actress. She gave great performances in
The Last Picture Show and
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore
Michael Douglas as Ben Parker: Peter's uncle who taught him that with "great power comes great responsibility". He is killed in a mugging, which Peter blames on himself and inspires him to do good.
Reason for Casting: I'm surprised that nobody has chosen Douglas for Ben. He's an extraordinary actor and would be great as Ben.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Jane Watson: A beautiful young women and Peter's love interest (and later wife).
Reason for Casting: Mary is very beautiful (unlike Kirsten Dunst) and also a great actress.
Amanda Seyfried as Gwen Stacy: The daughter of Police Captain George Stacy and another of Peter's love interests. She was killed by the Green Goblin, a memory which haunts Peter.
Reason for Casting: She was pretty good in
Chloe.
Emile Hirsch as Harry Osborn: Peter's friend and the neglected son of industrialist Norman Osborn. He later becomes the second Green Goblin after his father's death.
Reason for Casting: He was excellent in
Alpha Dog and
Into the Wild
Hugh Laurie as J. Jonah Jameson: The aggressive editor of
The Daily Bugle, who has a strong hatred of vigilantes.
Reason for Casting: I noticed a few similarities between Jameson and Laurie's character on
House and decided to cast him based on this.
Dennis Haysbert as Joseph "Robbie" Robertson: The editor-in-cheif of
The Daily Bugle, who actually support vigilantes.
Reason for Casting: I love his work on
The Unit.
Christina Ricci as Betty Brant: Jameson's secetary and one of Peter's friends.
Reason for Casting: She was pretty good in
Black Snake Moan and
Monster.
Villains:
Sean Penn as Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin: Harry's father and owner of Oscorp. After a lab accident, he gains superhuman abilities and an increased intelligence at the cost of his sanity. He then becomes the costumed criminal known as the Green Goblin.
Reason for Casting: I'm surprised that nobody has casted Penn in the role of Osborn. He's a brilliant actor (as seen in
Mystic River,
21 Grams, and
The Assassination of Richard) and can play a psychotic (as seen in
The Casualties of War).
Oliver Platt as Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus: A highly intelligent mad scientist who has four, mechanical, tentacle-like appendages fused to his spine (which he can control with his mind.
Reason for Casting: He was pretty good in
A Time To Kill and
Frost/Nixon.
Cary Elwes as Doctor Curt Connors/The Lizard: A herpetologist who creates a serum that replicates a reptile's ability to regrow its limbs. He tests it on himself to regrow his amputated arm. The resulsts are successful, but the side effects soon turn him into a mindless, bloodthirsty reptilian monster.
Reason for Casting: I'm okay with Rhys Ifans being casted, but to me, he looks like a character out of
Trainspotting. I decided to cast Elwes since I think he's a fantastic actor with range.
Liev Schreiber as Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven the Hunter: A Russian big game hunter with superhuman senses, reflexes, and strength.
Reason for Casting: To be honest, I don't think the fan favorite, Gerard Butler, is that good of an actor (the best work I've seen him done was in
RocknRolla). i think Schreiber would be great in this role. He has played sinister villains before in
X-Men Origins: Wolverine and
Salt.
Aaron Paul as Maxwell Dillion/Electro: An electrician who was caught in a freak accident while fixing a powerline. It resulted in him becoming a living electrical capacitor with the ability to manipulate electricity and fire blasts of electrical energy.
Reason for Casting: I casted Paul after seeing his work on
Breaking Bad
Terry O'Quinn as Adrian Toomes/The Vulture: A former invented who had an electromagnet flight harness in the shape of wings. After finding out that his business partner had been embezzling funds, he sought revenge and became The Vulture.
Reason for Casting: I decided to not to go with the fan-favorite of John Malkovich (whom I consider a brilliant actor). I chose O'Quinn since I enjoyed his work on
Lost.
Thomas Jane as Flint Marko/Sandman: A criminal whose body had bonded with irradiated sand. His molecular structure had turned into sand, allowing him to change his density level and shape-shift his body.
Reason for Casting: I hope everyone will not mind him playing another Marvel character (like how Chris Evans has played both the Human Torch and Captain America). Anyway, I think Jane is a great actor and would be good in this role.
Matt Smith as Quentin Beck/Mysterio: A special effects artist and illusionist who turned to crime. His helmet has a holographic projector installed and his boots and gloves have nozzles that can eject either mist or hallucinogenic gas.
Reason for Casting: Mysterio is sort of a corny villain, and from what I have seen from Matt's work (
Doctor Who,
Party Animals, and
Christopher and His Kind), I think he would be great in this role.
James Marsters as Mac Gargan/The Scorpion: A former private investigator who underwent a procedure consisting of chemical and radiation treatments. The results gave him superhuman abilities and a strong grip (like a Scorpion's pincers). The procedure turns him insane and becomes the criminal known as The Scorpion. He wears a full body, steel mesh battlesuit armed with a seven foot tall, cybernetically-controled tail.
Reason for Casting: I casted Marsters after seeing him as Spike on
Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Adam Baldwin as Herman Schultz/The Shocker: A safe-cracker who wears a vibration-absorbng suit and is armed with gauntlets that fire contracted vibrational airblasts.
Reason for Casting: Although Baldwin is a popular pick for Sandman, I decided to use him for Shocker after seeing him in
Full Metal Jacket and
Firefly
Oleg Taktarov as Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino: A man armed with a mat suit that is tough as a rhino's hide. While in the suit, he is an unstoppable juggernaut, being able to lift up to 80 tons.
Reason for Casting: I know that a majority of wrestlers suck at acting (e.g. John Cena), but Taktarov is a surprisingly good one. He did a great performance in
Predators.
Michael C. Hall as Warren Miles/The Jackal: A professor of biology who was infatuated with Gwen Stacy. After she was killed, he blamed the death on Spiderman and became demented. He took on the alter ego of the Jackal and swore revenge on Spiderman.
Reason for Casting: Michael can play insane and villainous characters (like in
Dexter and
Gamer). So i thought he would fit this role nicely.
Garret Hedlund as Eddie Brock/Venom: A journalist who was fired from his job after writing a false article. He was then bonded with the alien symbiote that had previously been bonded with Spiderman. Both shared a hatred for the webslinger, and the Symbiote gave him powers similar to Spiderman's. Now calling himself "Venom", he swore to ruining the life of Peter Parker and the ones that he loved.
Reason for Casting: First off, I'd like people who still whining about Topher Grace "ruining" Veom to get over it. That was 4 years ago. Grace is a good actor. but a bad choice for Venom. I decided to avoid the fan favorite of Dominic Purcell (who I don't see as Venom). I chose Hedlund since he is a great actor and would be good in this role (just needs to buff up a bit).
Charlie Hunnam as Clestus Kasady/Carnage: A psychotic serial killer who had shared a prison cell with Eddie Brock. When Brock escaped from prison after rebonding with the symbiote, an offspring of it bonded with Cletus, creating the savage and violent Carnage.
Reason for Casting: I decided not to go with the fan favorite of Robert Knepper. Anyway, Hunnam has played insane characters before in
Cold Mountain,
Green Street Hooligans, and
Children of Men. Judging from these roles, I think he would be great as Carnage.
