The story goes that Earth is being threatened by monsters. An alien comes to Earth's aid by entrusting his warrior/servant 'UltraMan' to bond with a capable human chosen by him.
A member of Earth's Science Patrol - an organization specially equipped to handle ...ehem, monsters- named Hayata has been given a device by the alien called the 'Beta Capsule' which, being held over Hayata's head and activated transforms him into ULTRAMAN!
But UltraMan's power is limited. The source of his energy is the sun, and like a battery slowly dying , UltraMan has to defeat his foe in time , or he could die! OH NO! He generally avoids this by flying into Earth's upper atmosphere to re-charge, but by doing so he leaves the ...ehem, monster unattended to continue wreaking havoc.
Anyhow, the show was alot of fun, as you can see from the video above.
Yeah, it was cheesy as hell, but we're talking the 1960's AND a TV budget!
I don't know. I think a film that doesn't take itself too seriously would be alot of fun too!
