Justice League film: Can it work?

Justice League film: Can it work?

This is not a "How to" article. I just state the director I feel is best fit, the roster I feel it should have, villain and how I can stand against The Avengers.

It's no surprise that I have not been a supporter of a Justice League film ever since it's announcement. It's gonna be extremely hard to pull of considering that Marvel beat them to the punch as far as assembling a team movie and the alien threat. Justice League has a chance to be a solid summer blockbuster but no where near the success, popularity or as good as The Avengers. Well, in my opinion anyways. But this is what I suggest.

Director: Gore Verbinski

The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy is all I really need to say. He has the scope needed, he can bring an epic feel to it and has the resume of films to prove he can pull this off. Not to mention he has more than one film to be at the Oscars (He may not be nominated for best director but he has had a movie be in "the best_movie" catagory, Rango is an example). If Warner Bros. want a damn good Justice League movie, get THIS guy.

Roster: I say just have Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern (preferably Hal Jordan) and Martian Manhunter. It just seems to have a better roster for a live action movie, rather than having Aquaman on the team.

Villain: I know pretty much everyone isn't fond of the idea, but it is a way to seperate themselves from The Avengers. Pick Lobo to be the bad guy, but have him be a bounty hunter that Darkseid hires to take out the Justice League. It seems like a cool way to have the film go.

I feel with the above listed, we could have a solid Justice League movie that may not be Avengers good but generate enough box office numbers to bring up the possibility of a sequel. No build up for it, just have them come out with Justice League and make it a quality film that hopefully will be fun, good entertainment, sure it would be "dark and mature" but I think it could help seperate itself from Avengers. Dont take the "Nolan way" of things and make it realistic, just make a quality movie that can rival that of Avengers. Even if the villain of choice isn't a popular choice. But we can't go straight into the biggest baddie of all and expect a good movie now can we?

These are my ideas and suggestions. Agree, disagree? Like, dislike? Comment below and be respectful.

I agree someone always wants to compare shit its annoying. The justice league can work and it can also fail as with any movie its a 50/50 situation we will just have to see

22 Justice League editorials in one month (there might be more)...
*shifts to Smash Bros voice*

"A NEW RECORD!!!!"

But what can I say? I'm writing one too - except different.

Anyway...
Yeah, I'd love to see Gore Verbinski direct Justice League. I really don't want to see Lobo though - I think he's one of the most idiotic characters DC has to offer, if not THE MOST, and I don't know, maybe that's supposed to be part of his charm, but if so - it failed for me.

NO Lobo in JLA other than a short cameo or nod to him.

i do believe they need to build up to a justice league movie & not just release it.it would be great to see a dc cinematic universe take shape.

man of steel could be the first part of the build up & then follow it with wonder woman, the flash, aquaman, green lantern(reboot) & the batman reboot.of you'd have to tell some origins & maybe recap others then a big budget justice league movie.

A JL movie will be like a big budget copy of the JLA TV pilot film from several years ago lol Mark my words, WB WILL screw this up royally!

It's inevitable that it'll get compared, might as well start now. I'm not saying that Justice League will be bad because I honestly believe it has potentional, maybe a solid blockbuster but I don't see it topping The Avengers. In case you haven't checked it out yet, here is my review for The Avengers http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/GhostRiderfan1/news/?a=66588

Why doesn't DC just do a Cinematic Universe? I know DC doesn't want to be a Marvel rip-off, but by doing a Cinematic Universe, they wouldn't be ripping-off Marvel. When Marvel did their Cinematic Universe, they were ripping-off DC like they always do. Years before Marvel did the Cinematic Universe, DC did their Animated Universe, which was the exact same thing only with TV shows. It started with Batman: The Animated Series, which introduced the Bat-family, Jonah Hex, Zatanna, and others. Then Superman: The Animated Series which introduced Superman, Supergirl, Legion Of Superheroes, Aquaman, ETC. Then they did a few other shows (such as Static Shock and Batman Beyond) all leading up to there Justice League cartoon (which teamed up 6 heroes and introduced others such as Hawkman, and Metamorpho, as well as set up Aquaman losing his hand), which, it itself, led to Justice League Unlimited, which teamed up hundreds of heroes, some, such as Aquaman, Zatanna, Jonah Hex, and Batman Beyond already introduced, others such as Green Arrow and Shazam! introduced for the first time. My point is, whats the point of rebooting Superman and possibly Batman, doing Lobo, ETC, if their not doing a Cinematic Universe?

@darkknight2149: Marvel didn't rip of the cinematic universe from DC when DC did their animtaed series. Even if you would consider it a rip off, DC has done the exact same thing. You sir are a hater, but even if I too were to look at it this way (I'm die hard Marvel) as they've put it in the geek community, DC did it first, Marvel got it right.

Justice League won't work because Warner Bros is rushing it.

@TheLizard1 I'm not saying DC never rips off Marvel, I'm just saying that you can't say that's what they're doing if they do a Cinematic Universe. DC and Marvel rip each other off all the time. Swamp Thing and Man-Thing are proof of that (I am unsure which came first).

It wouldn't take all 6 of them to defeat Lobo. Superman and MM could do it alone. Needs to be a bigger villain.
