Man of Steel trailer thoughts

Man of Steel trailer thoughts

Epic? Meh? or something else? These are my thoughts on the latest trailer for Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. The beginning of the DC Cinematic Universe is upon us.

Been awhile since I posted on here, or well it feels like awhile. I was going through a very depressed home life. Anyways, Man of Steel is the start of the DC Cinematic Universe. Believe it DC fans, your world is coming and it's going to give Marvel a run for it's money (I'm a fan of friendly competition, prime example being Marvel vs DC). Let's go through certain spots of the trailer and I'll give it a rundown of my thoughts.

Krypton

I'm not complaining here. It's more like "huh, interesting" sort of thing. Krypton looks really, really good don't get me wrong. I just, when I thought of Krypton I always imagined it to look, I don't know. Just different. Anyone else think the same thing?

"Can I keep pretending I'm your son?"

Cause it was Zack Snyder, I like to think of him as the guy who directed Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen. Not, those two movies and 300, Sucker Punch and Legend of the Guardians. Cause it was David Goyer, I was thinking Blade trilogy, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Batman Begins (he only wrote the story for the other two, that's it). Therefore, I wasn't expecting any sort of emotional string to be tugged at with Man of Steel. When Clark said "Can I keep pretending to be your son" that was really touching and I really felt for the kid. Something I never thought I'd ever do. Clark's relationship with the world is definitely something I'm looking forward to seeing.

Reaction to a god among men

Ever since we saw the production pictures for this scene, I've been wanting to see it and honestly, it excites and intrigues me. Clark's relationship with the world is one thing but, how would the citizens of Metropolis react to a god among men? That's another story in itself that I'm again, looking forward to seeing. Especially this scene shown here.

Metropolis?

Does this look or feel more like New York to anyone besides me? Sorry but, that shot is going to bug me forever.

What the?

What is this and why does Zod need it? It's truly interesting none the less though. Questions, you leave us with questions Mr.Snyder. Obviously he wouldn't tell us but, I like that. Leaving us with questions for the movie is good but, frustrating for me. Don't ask, I just work like that. Even if we do know more about Iron Man 3 than Man of Steel, I'm not less excited. Just more excited. What are you doing Zod!?!?! Excitement and curiosity goes up. Moving on...

Desert?

Why is it in the desert? Why do you leave us with questions damn it! Seriously though, why the desert of all places he could be?

Interrogation

This scene is something to look forward to. It's not action heavy (although, I just have this feeling the final battle is going to be a half hour like The Avengers), it's not character heavy. Just two people talking. Looks like a fun scene between Superman and Lois, question as always, Why is Lois of all people there? Important to the story, I know but still.

Do my eyes deceive me?

Nope, they aren't deceiving me. That's Superman throwing a punch. Let me rephrase that for you, Superman is THROWING A [frick]ING PUNCH! Money shot of money shots right there. Excitement goes really high.

Final thoughts: Superman throws a punch. Sorry, I had to say it. Can't control myself cause it's a miracle. Anyways, my closing thoughts is that the first two minutes are slow but necessary for the understanding of the first part of the story. After that, action fest and I was for the first time, excited for this movie. The trailer as a whole was really good but, I don't think it was worth all those comments from pissed users about "Where is the god damn trailer!!" It just wasn't worth it. It was fun, interesting and the first exciting trailer for Man of Steel for me. Zack Snyder may have finally redeemed himself with a third good movie (Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen being the previous two). If you want me to stop the hate with Snyder, you may get your wish when Man of Steel a.k.a the kick start of the DC Cinematic Universe hits theaters June 14th. We'll be waiting.

What do you think of the trailer? Worth it, not worth it? Epic? Okay? DC Universe here we come? Whatever is on your mind, post it in the comments below.

@Batmaniac: Agreed, it gave us what we needed. The questions it left us with thought frustrates me lol
JDKalel: I don't think Abrams would've been the right fit. I agree, it does have it's similarities and isn't entirely original. But, it's different enough. Same went for The Amazing Spider-Man. This is coming from a pure Marvel guy but, I'm even excited for this movie. Something I couldn't say a week ago. I hope it starts a DC Cinematic Universe for some good, friendly competition with good movies of course.

Batmaniac: I just think Metropolis should feel and look less like New York. It should have its own identity.
Levi: TASM took in 756 million I think. Didn't reach 800, while I'm now excited for Man of Steel, I don't think it'll reach a billion. Superman isn't quite as popular as he was before. I know you don't mean to start a flame war but, in terms of as a film goes, I think it might be the best of the cbm's but, as a comic book movie as a whole, I think Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World will be better.

very good trailer the war krypton looked amazing my favorite moment, some very good looking action scenes throughout & crowe & shannon look like they're gonna steal the best performances from the rest of the cast.

didn't like the music but it may grow on me,john williams theme is a classic very iconic.

great seeing superman punching someone even if it does look like it was taken straight from injustice gods among us video game.

@Batmaniac: I have no doubt he will. It's directed by Alan Taylor.
@marvel72: For as great as the trailer is, unfortunately I really don't have a favorite moment.

I prefer the music from the other triler but this one is almost perfect. It has very emotional moments and incredible, although brief, moments of action. The scene betwenn young Clark and his father is so good. It feels like in Clark's mind, everything resets and he feels like he is a stranger to the world to the point that he asks his own father if he can pretend to be his son. That is subtle and just amazing.

Finally got to watch it as it premiered past midnight here and have been busy all day... awesome!

The only draw back was the score... I might be in the minority here as this movie aims to be SOOOO removed from the Reeves trilogy... but if there was one thing they could/should have stole was the Williams scors with a bit of a tweak to be acceptable by todays audience.

Loved the whole 'roving Lois... chasing down leads on a heroic but incredibly secret man who is contsantly on the move' brilliant.

Visually beautiful, amazing cast, more hit than miss director (Watchmen is a fave)... its gonna be the best movie of the year... it may not make the most money though.

zod is a good choice, the last time we saw him was 1980 but with the sequels they need to give us some new villains not just lex luthor.

-brainiac
-darkseid
-mongul
-parasite
-doomsday

This film gives me butterflies in my stomach... So much riding on it and so much potential... The trailers have only added to how to anticipated I am for this film and beautifully enough, it's released in cinemas as soon as my exams are done so it's just perfect timing for me! :D

WorstUserNameEver: That's where I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Zack Snyder is more miss than hit. 300, Sucker Punch and Legend of the Guardians sucked. Also, I heard a rumor of David Goyer directing Justice League? Um, unless Goyer has improved since Blade trinity ( which he hasn't) there is no way I'll go for it and I'm also against Snyder for Justice League. To be different from Marvel, DC must keep a director for a franchise or a trilogy. In the case of Snyder, stick to Superman.

I thought the trailer kicked ass. It solidified why this is my most anticipated of the year and completely removed all my doubts about it being too dark for superman. That moment where pa kent tells Clark he's not from earth and young Clark says "can't I just keep pretending I'm your son" and pa Kent says "you are my son" I've got to admit I almost cried, it was heart wrenching.

honestly think they purposefully didn't put alot in the trailer only enough to allow the viewer to understand he throws a punch................... i.e what most have been looking for

@ Batmaniac
"All I know is Thor needs to step his A game up ASAP"

we'll never see THOR used to his full potential, because once it's seen you'll wonder what's the purpose of the other avengers

I thought it was pretty 'meh,' but I might be in the minority that had no intentions of seeing it, anyway.

Call me when he has a real suit and fights someone other than Lex or Zod or when Lana is replaced by Lois.

When Lois starts talking in the trailer it sounds like she's already been looking for him.

Sort of like, before he becomes Superman, there's these stories circulating about a quiet drifter who has, on several occations, performed amazing "Super" feats to save lives of people he's worked with. Only to disappear after.

These "myths" find their way to lois, who writes articles on them, and sets out to find this super stranger. So When Superman emerges from his fortress, he knows she might be the only one who gets him from her articles.

But that's just my current theory.

I thought the same thing about that desert shot. What's up ?

The trailer was absolutely crazy. Really good, Man of Steel is going to kick every other CBM movie this year.

I agree with LEVITIKUZ.

Also, these punches he throws... is it me, or do they look like crotch punch ? Not cool...

I'm thinking that big weapon shoot a blast into the middle of metropolis is probably somehow related to the reason why Zod was in the phantom zone. Perhaps that weapon has something to do with krypton's destruction. There's been no hint of the ol' seismic activity excuse from the old movies.

@Emjeed: I really never been to New York and have only seen it in movies and I've been to Chicago but, more around it than in it. I know what Chicago looks like but, it's been awhile.
