Marvel Football

What if the Marvel heroes & villains had to duke it out...on the gridiron!

For a different take on Fan Fic, I thought I would combine two of my favorites: comic books & football.

The Beyonder has decided to hold a football game to decide the fate of the universe. All regular football rules apply on a 200 by 1000 yard field. First downs are 100 yards. No flight and no power bursts are the only limitations. Here is the line up for Heroes (offense) vs Villains (defense):

The linemen:
Left Tackle / Left Guard / Center / Right Guard / Right Tackle

Try getting around this group!

Receivers:

Quick, agile playmakers

Tight End

Can stay in and block or good short yardage.

Running Backs:

Speed, agility plus healing factor means they never break down!

QB

The ultimate field leader.

Now, onto the defense:

2 Defensive Ends & a Nose Tackle

Unstoppable forces

Linebackers:

Sadistic, mean, dirty players

Defensive Backs:

These guys (and gal) will have a nose for the ball.

After a vicious 60 minutes, Marvel Heroes save the day and win 42 to 35 in the last play of the game.

If there is further interest, I will post Villains (offense) vs Heroes (defense).

Really? Huh? I never got why guys are addicted to football and baseball. I mean don't get me wrong, I love seeing 2 guys ramming into each other and rolling in the mud and playing with their ball(s)

It's like $&%*@^& but with pads.

Some things in nature are just how they are. I've never known why women (not all) go to the bathroom together while out.

I've got to ask, why is American Football called football since the majority of the game is spent using your hands on the ball and REAL football is called soccer...that doesn't make sense to me...

Cool idea though man, all you need is Hulk, Juggernaut and Rhino on a team and they win...no contest ;)

Now, try and picture these guys all wearing your favorite team jerseys.

@flames: I had not thought of other sports, but I will see what I can come up with. Maybe some soccer, er true football for everyone on the other side of the Atlantic!

DogsOfWar
DogsOfWar - 12/9/2009, 9:19 PM
@Gideon-Not bad although I had Professor X in mind for coach and Mr Fantastic on the defense.
Gideon
Gideon - 12/9/2009, 9:23 PM
Yeah, but the villians coach should be a villian, right?
DogsOfWar
DogsOfWar - 12/9/2009, 9:27 PM

Sorry dogs, can't see your team up at work if the embed codes you are using don't come right from your picture galery :(

I'll have to scope it out as soon as i can access an outside computer.

@Shaman-still learning the ropes of article posting. Are pics less likely to get blocked if they come from my gallery or is that just with your particular job?

@6of13-Rugby would be epic. Unfortunately I don't know much about that sport.

Nick Fury as offensive coordinator and Reed Richards ad defensive coordinator with Prof. X as head coach - Now that would rule.
AshleyWilliams
AshleyWilliams - 12/14/2009, 5:40 PM
Captain America-Coach
Thor-QB
Lineman-Hulk
Recievers-Spider-Man,Quick Silver,Nightcrawler(Can teleport to ball)
BTW-The Watcher cannot be the Ref,That would be interfering. :)
W8I8Z
W8I8Z - 12/23/2009, 12:27 PM
Spiderman would be a better RB because he could constantly evade oncoming defenders with his spider sense. Plus, he wouldnt fumble because the webbing on his hands would stick to the ball. Just a thought. :)
TheOmegaOne
TheOmegaOne - 1/20/2011, 11:18 PM
Hulk would be better off on the defensive side of the ball.
DE- Hulk
NG- The Blob
DE- Juggernaut
that would be a nasty d-line.

Thor would be a better quarterback then lineman.

Colossus would be better as a tackle rather then as the center because of his height.
