Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Animated Series

Voices with Attitude.

Earlier this week, I wrote a proposed Power Rangers trilogy. The reception was mostly positive and I appreciate that. However, I realized a movie could never do true justice to the awesomeness that was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The obvious solution that never gets brought up is an animated series. Animation could keep the story going forever and allow for fantastic action on a weekly basis. Here is my fan cast for the voice talents for an animated Power Rangers series.

  • Jason Lee Scott: Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Halo 3: ODST)
  • Zack Taylor: Donald Faison (Robot Chicken)
  • Billy Cranston: Josh Keaton (The Spectacular Spider-man, Hercules)
  • Trini Kwan: Colleen O'Shaughnessey (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Digimon: Digital Monsters)
  • Kimberly Ann Scott: Lacey Chabert (The Spectacular Spider-man, The Wild Thornberrys)
  • Tommy Oliver: Jason David Frank (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers)

  • Rocky DeSantos: Sam Witwer (Star Wars: The Force Unleashed)
  • Adam Park: Johnny Young Bosch (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Bleach)
  • Aisha Campbell: Gina Torres (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Transformers Prime)
  • Katherine Hillard: Danica McKellar (Young Justice, Static Shock)

  • Zordon: Patrick Stewart (American Dad)
  • Alpha 5: Alan Tudyk (Young Justice, Batman: The Brave and the Bold)
  • Bulk: Paul Scrier (Mighty Mophin' Power Rangers)
  • Skull: Jason Narvy (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers)
  • Ernie: Brian Cranston (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers)
  • Ninjor: Nolan North (Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Wolverine and the X-Men)

  • Rita Repulsa: Barbara Goodson (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Naruto: Shippuden)
  • Goldar: Frank Welker (The Transformers, Futurama)
  • Finster: Robert Axelrod (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Digimon: Digital Monsters)
  • Scorpina: Tara Strong (The Super Hero Squad Show, The Fairly OddParents)
  • Squat: Bill Fagerbakke (SpongeBob SquarePants, Transformers: Animated)
  • Baboo: R. Martin Klein (Digimon: Digital Monsters)
  • Lord Zedd: John Di Maggio (Futurama, Batman: Under the Red Hood)
  • Master Vile: David Kaye (Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions, G.I. Joe: Renegades)

  • Showrunner: Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-man, Young Justice)

Good idea? I don't know, I think PR's getting exhausted. Today's kids probably want less cheese with their action shows. This isn't the 90's anymore.

LOVE GINA TORRES, i think she is beautiful. Frank Welker is still alive??? He was doing voices on Dungeons and Dragons when I was a kid. Very good cast.

Decent cast. I've thought about it myself and a comic book miniseries (or ongoing series) or an animated series like this could reboot the franchise and set a new tone. THEN we get the movie that everyone wants to see after everyone has been shown how well the characters can be done with a different tone and contemporary ideas.
