My MCU: the Punisher: Crime and Punishment
I am a casual Punisher Fan, I have seen him take on Spider-Man in the animated series of the 90s and I have seen Punisher: War Zone (a huge guilty pleasure of mine, if I can track down a copy of the 2004 film I will watch it and I have seen the #DIRTYLAUNDRY fan film). So here is my fancast with ideas taken from other fancasts I have read and my own personal opinions. Also sorry about the lack of pictures.
Michael C. Hall as Frank Castle/the Punisher: a Vietnam veteran who went insane after seeing his family gunned down and decides to dedicate his life to bring out brutal justice to those who seek to harm innocents and is now in his 5th year of his war against crime. I know Karl Urban is a popular choice (loved Dredd) and I wouldn’t mind Thomas Jane or Ray Stephenson reprise the choice but Hall is perfect for playing tortured murdering anti heroes as anyone who has ever seen Dexter can agree.
Jim Carrey as Martin Soap: a loser and the butt of the jokes in the NYPD and is the head (and only member) of the Punisher Task Force. Since the role will mainly be comic relief I think my favourite comedy actor can pull this off.
Patton Oswalt as Microchip: he is Frank’s weapons provider and one of his few friends that he has left. I have seen this choice before and I agree, to learn more about this actor check out Familiar Faces episode of Professor Dementor.
Zachary Quinto as Billy Russo/Jigsaw: a crime boss who has taken the role of leader of the New York crime world after the death of Silvio Manfredi in Spider-Man: Great Power, he had his face crushed by glass thanks to the Punisher years ago and he had to have plastic surgery but the end results made him look like a jigsaw puzzle, now that he is on top of the crime world he has ordered all of his men to find and bring him Frank Castle. Zachary played Sylar my favourite live action TV villain, I know most people casted him as Bullseye but I want to see what he can do as Jigsaw.
Yvonne Strahovski as Sable Manfredi/Silver Sable: an assassin and daughter of the late Silvio Manfredi, she and Jigsaw were once lovers and her ex-boyfriend broke her out of prison so she could help take down the Punisher. Yvonne is reprising her role from Spider-Man: Great Power.
Tiny Lister as Barracuda: an unusually optimistic and happy mercenary who has been recruited by Jigsaw for his anti Punisher task force.
Story:
Frank Castle was just a rookie vigilante who was a month into his war against crime and he had managed to foil a drug trade and the last person alive a narcissistic thug called Billy Russo, Russo was thrown into a glass pane head first which permanently scarred his face. Now five years later Castle is feared by the crime world and police, Russo now going by Jigsaw has taken control of the crime cartel of New York, and he has made taking down Frank Castle the Punisher the top priority.
Post Credits Scene: Frank Castle is walking down the rainy streets. He passes a school with the sign which reads "Xavier Institute".
