1. JOKER (WHO DOESNT LOVE MR. J? HE is one of the ONLY villains that can shatter the popularity of his opposing foe. he is recognizable, and unpredictable. Most people love him even if they have never READ any of the source. HE IS TRULY A PART OF CONTEMPORARY COUNTERCULTURE)

2. OZYMANDIAS (IF THERE'S A VILLAIN IN WATCHMEN IT'S HIM. HE HAD NOBLE GOALS EVEN IN COMMITTING MASS MURDER, WHICH IS ARGUABLY UNDERSTANDABLE. HE is here b/c WATCHMEN is so influential)

3. DR. DOOM (SO POPULAR HE ECLIPSED THE F4 AND IS A TRUE "VILLAIN" TO THE "ENTIRE" MARVEL UNIVERSE. 'NUFF SAID!)

4. VENOM "1"(EDDIE BROCK! MAC GARGON SEEMS MORE LIKE A "MAD DOG", BROCK HAD AN INTELLIGENCE HE BROUGT TO THE SYMBIOTE. COME ON THOUGH? THE SYMBIOTE'S SWEET BUT THE SYMBIOTE DOESNT MAKE THE CHARACTER!)

5. GREEN GOBLIN (HE KILLED THE FABLED GWEN STACY, COME ON!)

6. TWO-FACE (LOVE HIS CHARACTER ARC, HIS "PROTECTING" GOTHAM DURING "52" WAS WEAK HE SHOULDN'T HAVE GOT HEALED. VISUALLY STUNNING AND I LOVE HIS MOTIF.)

7. APOCOLYPSE (AOA IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVS. FEW VILLAINS HAVE HAD SUCH STUNNING MATERIAL FOCUSED ENTIRELY ON THEM ENOUGH TO SUPPORT MULTIPLE SERIES)

8. MAGNETO (HE'S ONLY BEEN IN THE X-MEN'S "CREATIVE STRATOSPHERE" FOR DECADES, LOL!)

9. "MR." SINISTER (AWESOME CHARACTER WHOSE HAD AN INDELIBLE IMPRESSION ON THE FRANCHISE REGARDLESS OF HOW WELL THE MEDIUM RESPECTS HIM. MS. SINISTER? 'NUFF SAID LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

10. BULLSEYE (D.D DOESNT FACE ANY ENEMY BETTER!HE KILLED KAREN POAGE, ELEKTRA AND STICK. ALSO DURING "DARK REIGN" HE WAS ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLIGHTED CHARACTERS OF MARVEL'S MYTHOS)

11. SABERTOOTH (GETS ANNOYING BUT CLASSIC. HIS BRAWLS WITH WOLVERINE ARE LEGENDARY REGARDLESS OF THE REASONS THOSE FIGHTS TAKE PLACE b/c in the end everyone forgets those they just remember the fun)

12. MR. FREEZE (A VILLAIN I FIND VERY "HUMAN", REGAINING LOST LOVE)

13. THE LIZARD (A VILLAIN WHOSE VERY "HUMAN" AS WELL, MUTATES WITHOUT CONSCIOUS THOUGHT, ONLY B/C HE IS BRILLIANT ENOUGH TO TRY AND RE-GROW A SEVERED LIMB)

14. SCARECROW (VISUALLY CLASSIC AS WELL AS CREEPY HIS USE OF FEAR IS ANALOGOUS TO WAYNE IN THAT HE GETS MOTIVATION FROM OTHERS EXPERIENCING THAT EMOTION)

15. DR OCTOPUS AKA DOC OCK (I JUST HAVE LOVED THE CHARACTER FOREVER AND DEFINITELY ONE OF THE ROGUES OF SPIDEYS I ALWAYS THINK OF FIRST.)

16. RIDDLER (CLASSIC, AND I LOVE HIS GOOD/EVIL SHIT, HE ISNT A BAD GUY HE IS JUST OBSESSED WITH INTELLIGENCE AND HEARING OTHERS ACKNOWLEDGE HIS, WHILE CALLING THEIRS INTO QUESTION EXPECIALLY A MAN "DRESSED LIKE A BAT" LOL)

17, HOBGOBLIN (SIMPLICITY, WELL EXCEPT FOR HIS IDENTITY THING LOL!)

18. CLAYFACE (HIT OR MISS. BUT HIS ANIMATED SHIT IS AWESOME)

19. THE LEADER (I LOVE THE DYNAMIC BETWEEN THE HULK AND HIM, HE'S GOT THE WHOLE POLAR OPPOSITE/FOIBLE THING GOING WELL)

20. THANOS (INFINITY GAUNTLET 'NUFF SAID)

"1. JOKER (WHO DOESNT LOVE MR. J?)"

Apparently John Romita doesn't.

Hush, Two-Face, Brainiac, Sinestro, Norman Osborn, Mr Sinister, Magneto, and Mystique - they do it for me.

Surely.

Hush... oh man, you HAVE to read HUSH. That's the name of the storyline, and it's actually not too pricey on Amazon. It's one of Loeb's GREATEST stories, and it is so all-inclusive.... characters include Catwoman, Huntress, Oracle, Tim Drake, Nightwing, Two-Face, Riddler, Ra's al Ghul, Talia al Ghul, Lex Luthor, Killer Croc, Lady Shiva, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Scarecrow, Joker, Harley Quinn, Superman, Lois, and of course... Hush. Drawn by Jim Lee, it's just a winner.

The majority of the villains that I like are either so affably evil that you have to like them, are so sadistic that it seems a good day for them would spell a bad day for everyone else.... or they are just so damn smug.

Mystique is one of those villains who can't help but be bad - like there is something wrong with her wiring, even when she tries to be a good mother for Rogue, she will at some point screw it up, and do it so bad that there's just no going back.

Sinister is just so damn polite and smug about everything. I feel that he ought to be played by Christoph Waltz, regardless of the differences in build and overall appearance. I love his origin story, how his FIRST action once Apocalypse has given him his genetic makeover, is to infect his master with a virus! Chronic backstabbing - and he ALWAYS has an agenda.

Sinestro is awesome because he is just a likeable character who HAPPENS to be a villain. Like the Joker without the complete and utter insanity - he doesn't hide his feelings whatsoever about anything. He is Geoff Johns' greatest accomplishment.

Brainiac varies. I see him as a cross between V-Ger from the original Stark Trek movie, Galactus, and then the Borg. He has absorbed so many different cultures, planets, civilizations, moral teachings, religions... and still concludes that he must follow through with the same execution - destroy all that remains of what he has assimilated. He is also quite treacherous, and like Mr Sinister, he will do anything in the name of science. He wasn't always like that, and the Animated Series changed his origin story for the better.

Two-Face is complete negative of Batman. Harvey Dent was his civilian identity - and unlike Bruce Wayne, he had the power to stop crime without wearing a mask. Unlike Batman, however, his secrets were murderous, and after the acid got him in the face, the secret identity became null and void - and he became everything he fought to stop. The fact that Harvey is still in there somewhere fighting himself just makes me love him all the more.
