New Avengers 2

New Avengers 2

Part 2 of my New Avengers (fictional of course) casting...

For this casting, I chose the newest roster for the New Avengers. The only problems I have for this particular team are Mockingbird and Luke Cage. I never really liked Cage's character but I like his powers and with Mockingbird, I hope they don't keep her on the team too long because I just don't see it. But other than that, I still think it's one of my favorite Marvel teams to date.

To start is the team leader (which was recently established) Ronin/Clint Barton and that is Jensen Ackles. I know my pick is a front runner for a lot of fans to be Captain America but I see Ackles as the type of actor who would be better suited for Barton's attitude.

Next up is Captain America/Bucky Barnes. This role was a little hard for me but ultimately I chose Ben Foster. The reason I went with Foster is because beside the fact he's an awesome actor, he kind of has that mysterious type of persona similar to Bucky post Winter Soldier days. Foster has that ex-assassin, turned hero type of feel to him especially after seeing him in 3:10 to Yuma. Although he was pretty much a hardcore type of dude in that movie, I feel he is versatile enough of an actor to portray the new Cap.

Next is Spider-Man/Peter Parker. As I said in the first Fan Fic I did, I feel he would be a good replacement for Maguire if they ever decided to do so. Plus in the pic I chose, it looks like he wants it.

Now for Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers. This is another character I had a hard time casting. At first I thought a younger actress but as I thought about it, she has been around awhile which would make her an older woman. I mean she was romantically linked to Wolverine in the past. So ultimately I went with Uma Thurman. In the past I wouldn't have chose her but after seeing Kill Bill and the dreaded My Super Ex-Girlfriend I think she could pull off Danvers.

Now for Mockingbird/Barbara Morse Barton. In short I chose Yvonne Strahovski from TV's Chuck. Besides the fact she's a knockout, she (similar to Mockingbird) was a government agent and I think it's a good fit.

Again, Jackman IS Wolverine...nuff said bub.

In my last article, I chose Alba to portray Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew but to some inputs and thinking of my own, I decided upon a two-way tie between Jennifer Connelly and Angelina Jolie. Right now I am kind of leaning towards Jolie because she has proven time and time again she can be a convincing femme fatale. If you doubt that, just look at Wanted. She was a bad ass in that film. Jolie had that double agent thing going on which is definitely required for Spider-Woman. But I also like Connelly too so don't count her out. Even though she has been in some movies I didn't really like, I think she is a fine actress and could portray Drew perfectly. My only hang up is I just don't think she could be much of an action star.

Lastly is Luke Cage. In my last post, I originally had Michael Clarke Duncan, which, in reality, he's a little too bulky for the role. Then I went with Common for Cage but in the end (thanks to some input) I decided to go with Taye Diggs. I have always liked him as an actor and although I don't watch the shows he's in now, I think he has enough talent to portray the hard hitting street hero.

There you have it. Keep posted on my final casting call for the Mighty Avengers...

I kind of skipped the middle portion of the New Avengers when the Skrull Invasion started. I think I might go back and do it though. I also haven't been including the supporting characters either because technically Jessica Jones (Cage's wife) isn't really part of the team because she doesn't use her powers and is basically a stay at home mother. But since she's been there since day one, I should probably cast her.

Realistically it would be tough to make the 2nd and 3rd New Avengers unless they just referenced what happened between the movies unless they actually did the civil war and secret invasion movies. The only way I dan think of doing it otherwise is to make animated features and videogames that tied all of the Marvel universe together. Any Marvel fan would probably appreciate that (of course we would prefer the movies though).

I think Josh Duhamel is much more suited for the role of Clint Barton. Don't get me wrong. I think Jensen Ackles could do it amazingly. But, I think he'd be way too.....likeable? I'm going for Connelly all the way. I think Ben Foster would do quite well, as the slightly meaner more aggressive captain america. Good call on that one.

great picks for mockingbird and spiderwoman. I'd have to go with Chris Pine for Clint Barton and I dont know who i'd pick to be Cap... he's just so damn cool

I like your Connely pic for spiderwoman. I think she fits. Nice Thurman tit-shot by the way but i hate the living shit out of her LOL :P Now your pic for spidey... not the best picture in the world. I'm having difficulty to see if it's Jake G. or Lance(or whatever his name is) from NSYNC.

But your best pic is Jensen for Ronin! He'd be perfect :))

first off let me begin by saying i am a new member and this is my first post. I've been a fan of cbm for some time and enjoy reading all the fan fics and especially enjoy the casting (very wizard magizine style) It's also a game i enjoy playing with my friends, coworkers, anyone who will listen.

I did enjoy the shamans picks for almost every fan fic casting he's done, and now it looks as if 5bees is keeping up with the tradition of intelligent picking. the only one i don't exactaly agree with is foster for cap. i see cap being more commanding than ben is and would go for some one alittle more mature. personally i like the idea of j akles playing the role, but i think we could go a little deeper. thinking josh hartnet.

Shaman-I'm not a big fan of Thurman either but I think she fits Ms. Marvel.

rolegiver-I can see where you are going with the animated Spidey, but I think Welling just doesn't fit. Plus, he is Clark Kent.

kerosene-thanks for the props. Who do you think should portray Bucky Barnes/Cap?
