Hey all,

You've probably noticed a bunch of articles promoting an upcoming Fan-Fic called The Batman: Arkham City and that is in fact the sequel to this Fan-Fic. But let's focus on this one shall we? Recently, I've been thinking about how much the story irritates me. It's quite a bad story to be honest. So, I decided to edit it and re-post it here! The story is told in the form of an outline, so it's not like reading an actual book. Some parts have remained, others have been re-evaluated but alot of it as been cut out completely. Now without further adieu, I am proud to present, The Batman: Crime Rising!

The story starts off in a crime-riddled area. Mist and fog shroud the air and there are screams heard in the distance. The camera quickly cuts to what seems to be a restaurant, but the chefs look uneasy. Their movements are frigid and rough, often stuttering when they speak. All their customers are criminals. This is Gotham City, where crime is in charge. They're all wearing grimy jackets and jeans, with guns visible just to scare the workers. One man is sat in the corner, alone. Some of the others are throwing pieces of food at him, getting tomato paste all over his blonde moustache and beard. Suddenly, a large bald man with a skinhead slowly rises up and throws a stall at the man. It catches him offguard and he collapses onto the floor, his food all over his shirt and the table is crushing his legs. The other criminals roar with laughter, pointing and laughing at the criminal. One man gets up and starts taunting him, about how he can only commit small and petty crimes. He calls him Joe Chill. Just them, a loud gunshot is heard. The criminals immediately hush and sit back in their chairs.

The camera cuts to the back of the man, as it slowly rises to reveal his full back. He is wearing a black, pinstriped suit. The back of his head is bald and jet black, no hair whatsoever. He is wearing heavy black hikers boots, the stomping echoing across the restaurant. The camera pans around his legs and starts rising up the front. His jacket is buttoned up so only a small part of his shirt can be seen. His tie is trapped inside the tight confines of his suit. The camera finally reaches the front of his face and it is hideous. It's been scarred and burned black. He walks slowly and elagently past the tables, his men cowering in fear whenever he passes them. The workers have dived under the tables in the kitchen and are as silent as possible. He silently whispers to Chill under his breath, "Get up".

One man in the corner can't take it any more and leaps up out of his chair pointing a handheld gun at the masked man. He doesn't look too bothered by this and simply stood there. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," the masked man says. "I've had enough of your law Black Mask, and I'm going to end it right here! You don't care about the crime aspect, you don't even care about yourself! You're only interested in bringing Gotham to it's knees!" Black Mask simply stands there. "Do it if you wish, but you will sincerely regret it." The man with the gun is shaking and sweating heavily, and finally pulls the trigger. Suddenly, there is a huge explosion which erupts from the man's body, engulfing the entire back right part of the room in flames. People are thrown out of the building by the force of the explosion and half the restaurant is burning. Sirens can be heard in the distance. Mask pulls a chair to Joe Chill, who is watching in a mixture of fear and astonishment. He sits on it the wrong way around, facing Chill.

He starts talking to him about how we all need to do something to get ahead in this world, and how your life will be forgotten and insignificant unless you do somnething memorable. Chill asks why the man just burst into flames, and Mask tells him that he soaked the top right corner of the room with gunpowder beforehand, because he had been watching the man closely and noticed that he has been planning for weeks to kill Mask. He tells Chill to go out and do something to gain him respect from the others, and a smile lights up on Chill's face. "I think I've got an idea."

The scene then cuts to an alley at the back of a theatre. A small boy rushes out of the door in a tuxedo and runs away as fast as he can. A man quickly walks out the same door in a tuxedo, followed by a tanned woman in a billowing black dress. The man calls out the name "Bruce" loudly, and then they both proceed to run in the opposite direction to the way Bruce ran. He is running through different alleys, jumping over loose pipes and puddles and suddenly bashes into a man in a grimy brown jacket and blue jeans, knocking him over. "I'm s-so sss-sorry M-mister!" Stuttered Bruce. "What's up with ya kid? You seem nervous." "I'm scared of bats. And I w-was watching th-this play j-just now, and peop-ple were dressed as b-b-bbbbbb bats!" "Where are your parents kid?" "I don't know, they went looking for me!" "I can tell you know where they are." "Um- I didn't want them to find me. I'm em-embarassed. They went towards the underground railtrack." "Thanks." The man ran in that direction. "W-wait, what's your name?" The man stopped and looked at the ground. Many different pages from newspapers were soaked into the ground and soggy, but he picked one up and gave it to Bruce. "Here I am!" Bruce grabs the soaking paper and stares at a 'Most Wanted' photo of the man, with the name Joe Chill underneath. He is already gone, and Bruce stands still in tears.

Bruce's parents are at the train station as one rushes by. They're searching all over the platform for any sign of their lost child. Joe Chill slowly walks out of the darkness behind them and pushes the woman, Martha Wayne, onto the tracks. She screams and puts her weight on her back forcing her whole body to stand up in one swift move. The man, Thomas Wayne, bursts out of the cafe and sees Joe Chill pointing a gun at his wife, on the train tracks. A train is fast approaching, the loud scraping of the train against the track can be heard clearly. Thomas punches Chill in the face, knocking him over. The gun slides to the right, all the way to the entrance. Thomas dashes for it, but Chill grabs his leg and he hits the hard, stone floor quickly. "THOMAS HELP!" Martha screams. Thomas kicks Chill in the face and leaps upm running to Martha. Suddenly, Bruce bursts through the glass doors at the entrance, tears streaming down his face. He steps on the gun, accidently pulling the trigger multiple times. One bullet shoots at the glass windows at the cafe, smashing them into millions of shards. The second and third riccoshet across the room, and one hits the tracks creating sparks. The last bullet hits the ground, not harming anybody. Bruce backs away towards the right wall, terrified.

Joe Chill then grabs the gun and shoots Thomas Wayne in the back. Chill suddenly realises what he's done and looks at the crying child in the corner. He slowly gets up and runs away, seeminly even more terrified than Bruce. Bruce runs towards the tracks and glances at his parents, helpless and scared. His mother is clutching his father tightly, trying to tend to his wounds. The noise is getting louder. Thomas looks up and whispers just loud enough for Bruce to hear,

"Be safe. Don't worry about us." Bruce's eyes well up, and he screams, "NOO-" The train finally comes, and the screen turns to black mid-scream.

@PhuckEu- Reposting? I'm a Fan-Fic writer who posts regular FanFic's. If that's your definition of reposting, then yes I am reposting my articles. If your definition is the normal definition, then no I am not. The original release of Crime Rising, even though it garnered alot of interest, wasn't very good. Re-writing it and re-posting it here will garner more interest for the sequel and will make people more familiar with it, hopefully gaining more readers.
