Rebooting the DC Cinematic Universe part 1

Rebooting the DC Cinematic Universe part 1

In this part 1 of my new article series, I will take you through exactly how I believe the DC Cinematic Universe should be rebooted. From the big screen to CW dramas and animated series, there's a vast array of possibilities for how DC could accomplish far greater things than Marvel has with their cinematic universe.

Since DC began transforming their characters into block busting films, television shows and animated series; I've felt it could be done so much better. I'd like to see DC take what Marvel has done to the next level with their cinematic universe. There are so many possibilities when you have 3 mediums to work with on top of your original comic book medium. If I were to reboot the DCCU, I would merge the cinematic universe with the television universe and the animated universe. By merging these 3 mediums together, you can tell a lot more stories and have them all in the same universe.

First, I would bring Superman to the big screen with a 3 movie deal. Each film would be connected and tell one story much like the Lord of the Rings did. When we open on the Superman film, we wouldn't get the same old origin story that takes up most of the film. Instead, I would have Superman's origin in a flash sequence similar to Raimi's Spider-man sequels. This will allow for more time to tell the story I want to tell. Each film in the Superman franchise would be shot at the same time, similar to Lord of the Rings or the first 2 Superman movies.

In the first of the films, Superman has to battle Livewire, Parasite and Metallo. It will show exactly how each villain's origin. By the end of the film we're introduced to a shadowy puppet master who was strongly involved behind the scenes in the villains' origins. In the second film, the puppet master is revealed to be Lex Luthor who's been receiving alien technology from the extra terrestrial computer known as Brainiac. With the help of Brainiac, Luthor takes Metallo's creation to the next level by using the same technology to transform scientist Hank Henshaw into the Cyborg Superman in order to destroy the Kryptonian. At the end of the film, Luthor is sent to prison and Henshaw is captured and placed into a specialized prison which deactivates all of his weaponry. Brainiac creates a body for itself and begins to do battle with Superman. Film ends, credits role. In a post credits scene, Metropolis is crumbling from the battles. Superman flies down to the street and walks over to Brainiac's robotic head laying on the ground. Superman picks up the head and Brainiac tells him "You may have defeated me Kryptonian, but someone else is coming who's far more powerful than you"... end movie. In the third film, 4 Kryptonians invade Earth. It's revealed the Kryptonians are General Zod, Ursa, Non and Faora. Superman begins to believe that Zod is the "someone else" that Brainiac was referring to. It's revealed that the four Kryptonians refer to themselves as "The Four Horsemen of Apokolips. When Superman defeats the four and sends them into the Phantom Zone, Zod begins to laugh at Superman thinking that Zod was the one Brainiac was referring to. End movie. In the post credits scene, we see Superman in the Fortress of Solitude trying to find out who Brainiac and Zod were talking about, when The Martian Manhunter appears, revealing himself to Kal-El. He tells him that the being Zod and Brainiac referred to was pure evil and that he would need help if he plans to defeat him. End.

The next film which would take place immediately after the second Superman film, would be Batman. In this film, We'll again see a flash origin at the beginning. Batman has to do battle with Black Mask, The Ventriloquist/ scar face and The Penguin. Black Mask and Scar Face are rival mob bosses, while Oswald Cobblepot is an arms dealer and owner of the Iceberg Lounge who supplies weapons to both organizations. By the end of the film, Batman is able to stop the crime bosses but the Penguin is able to escape. In the post credits scene, we see Cobblepot speaking to a shadowy figure and just before the post credit scene ends, Penguin leaves the room. Another figure who is revealed to be The Riddler is standing in the shadows and says something to the mystery man. Out of the darkness, the man leans forward in his chair just enough for the light to shine on his jaw. A gruesome red smile is revealed and the scene goes black with vindictive laughter.

To break up the Batman trilogy, we come to World's finest. This film will take place immediately after the first Batman film and the Superman trilogy. Superman flies to Gotham and tracks down Batman. When Superman and Batman come face to mask, Batman attacks the man of steel. The first half of this movie is Superman vs Batman in an epic battle. In the second half of the film, Superman and Batman join forces to do battle with Clayface and Atomic Skull. Throughout the battle, Superman and Batman begin working as a team and put an end to the villains' destruction. Superman informs Batman that he could use his help with a world crisis and that he's been asked to assemble a team. Credits role. Post credit scene: an old woman sits in the same office that's seen in the post credit scene of Batman. She had just finished speaking with the mystery man in the shadows, this time the Joker's face moves completely out of the shadows and he says "the world is coming to an end? Sounds exciting... HAHAHAHAHA!" The scene goes black with Joker's laugh carrying into the blackness.
