With the new movie NINJA ASSASSIN coming out I thought it was high time for a
movie to made of the MARVEL comic book, THE HANDS OF SHANG-CHI--MASTER OF KUNG
FU! So I went and checked IMDB to see if anything was happening with the
SHANG-CHI property!
IMDB has the movie, “HANDS OF SHANG-CHI” (2011), listed. It’s listed as being
written by one of the writers of “BAND OF BROTHERS”, BRUCE C. McKENNA and
directed by director WOO-PING YUEN, he was the martial arts choreographer for
“THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM”.
Here is my FANCAST for a SHANG-CHI movie!
First of all the supporting characters from SAX ROHMER’S FU MANCHU are not
licensed by Marvel anymore so Marvel is using their own type of FU MANCHU,
YELLOW CLAW (actual name, PLAN TSU) to replace Mr. Manchu! Now SHANG-CHI will
have to be the son of YELLOW CLAW.
There is also an FBI agent who was the main foe of Yellow Claw, agent, JIMMY
WOO, who later goes to work for FURY in S.H.I.E.L.D. Thus they can swap the
F.B.I. for MI-6 in SHANG-CHI’S story and JIMMY WOO for DENIS NAYLAND SMITH.
Marvel owns the big guy, BLACK JACK TARR, so they can use him but make him
younger and in the F.B.I. as JIMMY WOO’S partner who transferred from SCOTLAND
YARD to the F.B.I. There’s also LEIKO WU, SHANG-CHI’S girlfriend and agent in
the private security firm they all start together, FREELANCE RESTORATIONS.
The bad guys are YELLOW CLAW, his daughter SUWAN and THE CAT (SHEN KUEI).
The battle between BI RAIN as SHANG-CHI and DONNIE YEN as SHEN KUEI, THE CAT
would be worth the admission alone! It should be done mostly with real martial
arts and not a bunch of excessive CGI and wire-work! That would be FANTASTIC!
Real old fashion martial arts!
So the CAST OF CHARACTERS for my SHANG-CHI FANCAST are:

SHANG-CHI - BI RAIN
LEIKO WU - JAMIE CHUNG
JIMMY WOO - SUNG KANG
BLACK JACK TARR - OWAIN YEOMAN
YELLOW CLAW - CHOW YUN FAT
SUWAN - DEVON AOKI
THE CAT (SHEN KUEI) - DONNIE YEN
Lately it seems we're getting a lot of Martial arts Movies and Barbarian films
like NINJA ASSASSIN, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, CONAN THE BARBARIAN, SOLOMON KANE,
and JOHN CARTER OF MARS and I really love it! BRING ON THE MAYHEM!
