Released May 4th 2007 Spider-Man 3 was boldly expected to be the defining third act of super hero trilogies and by many standards fell short. Needles to say fans all over were very disappointed. Venom had been spit all over Director and Co-Writer Sam Raimi for his inclusion of Venom. Now I or anyone could naturally go all day stating where Raimi went wrong, but that would be against the point of this article. What I will do is dissect a small parts all the wrongness of Spider-Man 3 and show you who the true person to blame is. When Raimi had signed on for Three Spider-Man Movies fans were happy and when it was time to make the 3rd movie, fans had only one thing in mind, Venom. Sam Raimi's original script had called for No Brock, and less shoehorned story. In fact the original script called for the three villains to be New Goblin, Sandman, and the Vulture. But demands from fans had pushed Avi Arad's hand in forcing Raimi to include the character while shooting was to start and a full script had already been perfected. In short, Raimi was given limited time to write something that deserving takes Months to perfect. Fan has complained how Venom was such a iconic part to the Spider-Man Mythos. Well, careful what you wish for spider-fans, you just might cause the movie to suck.
Yes I know I'm going to get bashed for this, I am in fact blaming everyone who suggested Venom for Spider-Man 3 (Myself included) To be honest, we all forced Avi Arad to Force Sam Raimi to force Venom into the movie, While it was originally supposed to be shooting much earlier than it had, delayed because of re-write. I can vouch that Vulture was originally suppose to take the role of Villain NO. 3. I've seen concept art from the "The Art of Spider-Man 3" Book which featured storyboards for Sandman's escape scene, which is where we were to first see Dr. Tombs. But 'oh well' when us fans pleaded Avi to do this, Avi simply didn't give Sam enough time, I mean really, So much shit happened in the Summer of 06 to fit in one character it was ridiculous, sure Raimi could've done better, but simply had no time in which to make it a masterpiece. Now I know many people are very pissed because I'm suggesting that they blame themselves, and it's understandable, but it's also true. I'm sorry everyone but you're in denial. Venom was our fault, and for which he have Marc Webb's Spider-Man Reboot to be our burden, no offense to Mr. Webb but I think we would've been better of keeping our traps shut and letting Raimi Put the Vulture in. All in all, I enjoy the movie, but still My favorite Spider-Man Film is The first one. Nuff' Said.
