This is the most underestimated team in comic history. It is also one of my favorite teams that will never get “movie love” (read that phrase somewhere).
They first appeared in Marvel Feature in Dec of 1971. The original members were Dr. Strange, Hulk and Namor. AND if that wasn’t enough, Silver Surfer was added to the line up a little late in the game. The team had a rotating roster from 1972 to 1986. Former X-men Angel, Iceman and Beast were members along with Ghost Rider, Luke Cage and many others. Nighthawk, Valkyrie and Gargoyle were my favorites from those later issues so I included them in this cast.
I have no idea why this super team didn’t last as long as The Avengers. They had some popularity and I think they could have taken down any other super hero team, even those DC guys.
