Below is my fan cast for the Sinister 6. Spider-Man has defeated many foes with ease, therefore these villains decided that as a group they had a better chance of claiming victory over Spider-Man. I have included more than six rogues although I will list which six I would find interesting for a big screen adaptation. The original Sinister 6 included the Vulture, but I decided not to include him. Instead, I went with the enemies I find interesting. In addition, I included various other Spider-Man comic villains as supporting characters. My Sinister 6 are Scorpion, Chameleon, Rhino, Doc Ock, Shocker and Mysterio.

Scorpion

Mac Gargan was a private investigator hired by J Jonah Jameson to discover how Peter Parkers gets incredible pictures of Spider-Man. In order to defeat Spider-Man, Jameson persuaded Gargan to test an experimental formula on him. A scorpion was used as the base of the formula. The experiment gave him super powers including super strength, speed and agility. These powers have proved instrumental in battling Spider-Man. Gargan has an explosive temper and is not one of Spider-Man’s smartest foes and Spider-Man has been able to easily outsmart him. Scorpion wears a full-body battle suit. The tail is cybernetically controlled and has at times been used to squirt acid. Gargan is able to use the tail has a whip. The Venom symbiote bonds with Gargan when it senses his personality. (wikipedia.com). When in the Venom persona, Gargan retained very little of his original personality and was controlled almost completely by the Symbiote (spiderman.wikia.com). My choice for Mac Gargan/Scorpion is Kim Coates. Part of this casting is as a result of Coate’s very characterisitic physical features. I believe his face suits the look of the villainous Scorpion. He has played villainous roles in the past and his movie credits include “Unforgettable”.

Chameleon

As the name implies, Chameleon is able to take on the appearance of another individual. The Chameleon was born a Soviet citizen named Dmitri Smerdyakov and is half brother to Sergei Kravinoff (also know as Kraven the Hunter) (wikipedia.com). Chameleon is a master of disguise. Throughout the years he has utilized conventional masks, as well as holograms and chemicals, to disguise himself, relying on his impressive acting skills and talent for imitating voices to complete the image. The Chameleon often works as a spy or thief for various crime bosses throughout New York (www.comicvine.com). Like many of Spider-Man’s villains, Chameleon has a personal vendetta against Spider-Man and has even impersonated the Wall-Crawler and Peter Parker. I chose a very underrated actor for this role. Tommy Flannagan has appeared in movies like “Gladiator” and Missed Call”. He plays the bad guy in movies often and I believe he is capable of playing the sociopathic Chameleon.

Rhino

Rhino is not of one Spider-Man’s most intelligent of enemies. In fact, he is rather dumb. He volunteered to participate in an experiment that bonded a superstrong polymer to his skin. It augmented his strength and speed and he was given the alias the Rhino. Mutagenic chemical and radiation treatments, including gamma ray bombardment, provides the character with superhuman strength, heightened levels of speed and stamina, and a high degree of durability (www.wikipedia.com). Rhino has even battled the Hulk. He is tall and one of Spider-Man’s strongest enemies (www.fact-index.com). He is of Russian descent and his real name is Aleksei Sytsevich. The Rhino is big, so I chose a big actor for the part. My choice is Abraham Benrubi and his movie credits include “Without a Paddle” where he played a brutish thug. Although he played nice guy Jerry on ER, he is quite capable of playing bad guys. Therefore, I have gone with a good actor who at the same time physically (in height) fits the role of the Rhino.

Doctor Otto Octavius

This is my favourite Spider-Man villain. Unlike The Rhino, Dr Otto Octavius is intelligent and one of Spider-Man’s most formidable enemies. He has four powerful, mechanical appendages, and is obsessed with proving his own genius and destroying Spider-Man. Otto Octavius was a brilliant atomic researcher and scientist who designed a body harness with four artificial tentacle-like arms. He used the harness to aid him in working on dangerous experiments at a safe distance. After a freak laboratory accident, radioactive liquids exploded which bombarded Octavius with radiation and bonded the harness to his skin and nervous system. He also received brain damage from the accident causing him to become criminally insane (www.samruby.com). A feature of Doc Ock are his sunglasses. Doc Ock formed the original Sinsiter 6, although in “Spider-Man the Animated Series” it was the Kingpin. I have cast David Suchet (Poirot) as Doctor Otto Octavius or Doc Ock. The man has experience in playing the villain. He also has a strong screen presence in these villainous roles and also possesses great intensity. I also think he is more than perfectly capable of playing the brilliant yet fiendish Doctor Otto Octavius. He also resembles the comic book character.

Shocker

Shocker may deserve more credit than he gets. He does not have any super powers yet he has battled Spider-Man. Shocker is more interested in robbing banks than killing Spider-Man. Shocker is arrogant, smart and does not give a crap. He wants to have a good rep and his main focus is to steal money rather than wage a vendetta against super heroes like Spider-Man (butbeforeikillyou.blogspot.com). Shocker’s primary weapon is a pair of gauntlets that emit a high frequency pulse of energy (wikipedia.com). His costume absorbs the vibrations from the gauntlets thereby allowing Shocker to remain unharmed. The blasts are capable of destroying concrete. My choice for Shocker is Will Arnett. Arnett is very good at arrogant and certainly does portray a don’t-give-a-crap-attitude very easily. He showed these qualities in “Blades of Glory”. Although he known for his comedic roles, that should not exclude him from more series roles.

Mysterio

Mysterio is Quentin Beck, a special effects wizard and stunt man working for a major Hollywood studio with dreams of making a name for himself in the film industry. However, he came to see his career in special effects as a dead-end job, but realized that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective supervillain (spiderman.wikia.com). His suit and weapons consists of a one-way Plexiglas helmet with half-hour air supply and holographic projector; gas jets mounted in gloves and boots capable of emitting hallucinogenic, sense-dulling, or "web" dissolving gases. Also elaborate stage sets and props as part of his schemes for revenge. He uses illusions as a means to deceive and has no quelms about using mind games to affect his foe’s psyche. Mysterio uses mental beguilery rather than direct physical hand-to-hand combat. Mysterio initially had the idea (from a colleague) to use Spider-Man to gain fame, or rather infamy. I cast Zachery Quinto as Mysterio/Quenton Beck. Credit for this choice goes to Ryden and Ozy. Zachery does possess a fierce focus and would be great as Mysterio, who, like most of the Sinsiter 6, has a personal vendetta against Spider-Man. Mysterio has a particular type of loathing for Spider-Man, and Quinto’s looks and demeanor are ideal for a character like Mysterio.

Sandman

As the result of accidental radiation bombardment, Marko transforms into a malleable, solid substance, a man made of sand, the Sandman. He has the ability to transform his body. He can will his body hardened, compacted, dispersed or shaped (www.wikipedia.com). Sandman can form his body into hammers and other crushing weapons, and can suffocate opponents with his body (www.spiderfan.org). His name is Flint Marko. At his core he is a thug, but he is still a man with a conscience (comicbooks.about.com). An interesting aspect of Marko is that at times he chooses to by a villain or on the side of justice. I have used Adam Baldwin for my cast. I am not sure he originally made this casting choice, but I agree that he would be ideal for Sandman. I think he has the mean attitude and physical characteristics that would work for a character like Marko/Sandman.

Electro

An electrician named Max Dillion gains his electrical powers after being struck by lightning while working on a power line only to be then electrocuted by the power cables. He gained electro-static abilites. When his body is charged with immense levels of electricity he becomes superhumanly strong as well. Electro can propel himself along accompanying magnetic lines of force in objects that have great electric potential, such as high-tension electrical lines (www.spiderfan.org). Unlike Spider-Man, Electro decided to use his powers to commit crime (wikipedia.com). He is of average intelligence and Spiderman has been able to easily defeat him. This villain is known for his fierce temper. My choice for the part is Alan Tudyk. This actor has shown great emotional range in previous movies, and his physical appearance matches that of Electro, for example: height: 5'11, weight: 165 lbs; eyes: blue, hair: red. I believe this actor can portray Electro.

Kraven the Hunter

Kraven was a Russian-born big game hunter and mercenary. His name is Sergei Kravinoff and he is The Chameleon’s half brother. He stole and drank a potion that contained various herbs from a witch doctor, which gave him super strength and speed. He is a skilled hunter, tracker and trapper and is an expert in hand-to-hand combat. Kraven usually prefers knives, spears, and bolas when he is fighting or hunting. Kraven thought that killing Spider-Man was his chance to regain family honour and seek the challenge that he always wanted. He was obsessed with honour, proving that he is the best hunter and killing Spider-Man (www.comicvine.com). The best choice for this part seems to be Gerard Butler. Although I have seen Josh Brolin and Oded Fehr mentioned. Butler would be perfect as Kraven and his performance as Leonides in 3OO is proof. Physically, he fits the character but no doubt would own Kraven the Hunter.

Hobgoblin

Roderick Kingsley started out as a fashion designer and billionaire, who had criminal underworld connections and had come about his wealth through unethical business practices and corporate raiding.
Kingsly became the Hobgoblin after exposure to the formula that created the Green Goblin (Norman Osbourne). The Hobgoblin possesses super strenght, speed and reflexes. The goblin formula also enhanced his intelligence to an extraodinary level. He uses a Goblin glider for transport and is armed with an arsenal of pumpkin bombs, goblin bombs and throwing bats. He is an equal match for Spider-Man. I chose Damien Lewis for Green Goblin because I am of the opinion that he could fit the dual nature of the character. However, after inspiration from LEEE777, I decided he would make an impressive Hobgoblin too. Lewis would be convincing as the deviant and intelligent criminal and would have mischievous fun with the character.

Venom

Eddie Brock may not have been part of the Sinister 6, but he is an important villain and the alien symbiote does bond with Scorpion. There have been various hosts to the Venom symbiote, but this fan casting will be for Eddie Brock.
Brock's powers stem from his symbiotic relationship with the alien that serves as his costume. The symbiote can mimic any type of clothing whatsoever, as well as blending Venom in his surroundings, rendering him invisible. The symbiote has augmented all of Brock's physical abilities to superhuman levels equal to, and in some cases greater than, Spider-Man's. As Venom, Brock has an elongated jaw, teeth, and tongue which are really part of the alien costume. Brock sees himself as a hero, protecting innocents from the "evil" Spider-Man. Brock has a deep hatred for Spider-Man but is able to control the violent tendencies of the symbiote as a result of his sense of honour (wikipedia.com). Okay, so Dominic Purcell is a fan favourite for Venom and I would gladly cast the actor for this role, however, I though Aaron Douglas from Battlestar Glactica might be a potentially suitable actor for the part.

Kingpin

The Kingpin is Wilson Fisk. He runs the criminal underworld and is control of the gangs. He is a large man made up of solid muscle. He is deceptively quick in battle. Kingpin is often associated as an enemy of Daredevil and he is also at odds with The Hobgoblin and The Black Cat. He often resorts to machiavellian tactics to remain in power (comiccoverage.typepad.com). In “Spider-Man the Animated Series” he is responsible for assembling the Sinister 6 (although in the series, the group was referred to as The Insidious 6). An idea behind this fan casting, was to use the Kingpin as the figure behind the creation of the Sinister 6, along with Doc Ock who will also serve as leader of the group. My choice for the role of Kingpin is John Caroll Lynch. He was the Zodiac killer in the movie of the same name. Lynch can easily pull-off the smug and arrogant aspects that are part of Kingpin’s personality. Lynch does bear a resemblance to the character and movie make-up or prosthetics can be used to give him the required girth to match that of the Kingpin.

Alistaire Smythe

Alistaire Smythe is the son of Professor Spencer Smythe. Smythe found a job with the Kingpin, where he used the crime lord's resources to track down Spider-Man. Smythe is a highly talented robotics engineer and has designed and built robotics spider slayers which he programmed to destroy Spider-Man. He was confined to a wheel chair and became a spider slayer himself in order to destroy the Wall Crawler. If Kingpin is in a Spider-Man movie, then he needs his robotics specialist. I have chosen Jude Law for the part. Law could easily play a villain like Smythe, who is one of Spider-Man most determined enemies.

John Jonah Jameson

JJJ is not quite a villain in the same vain as Shocker or Kraven, but he is not exactly Spider-Man’s friend either. His personal dislike for the Wall Crawler has led him to publish scathing articles in his newspaper. J. Jonah Jameson is often seen ranting and raving in the Daily Bugle Building, with a cigar in his mouth. He is loud, a bully and couldn't care less if someone doesn't like what he says. He is the editor of the Daily Bugle newspaper. JJJ has often been the target of attack by the members of the Sinister 6 (www.spiderfan.org). He was responsible for the Mac Gargan becoming the Scorpion. My choice for J Jonah Jameson is Robert John Burke. Since JJJ has a temper, I believe Burke is ideal to play the raving John Jonah Jameson. I think he would fit the role and can easily pull off the arrogant, intimidating and brazen, JJJ.

I love your take on this SINISTER SIX!!!

Amazing work!

Coolios on HOBGOBBIE! ; D

Your JJJ is very cool, your other picks are pretty original and very good, love the fact you haven't cast SOPRANOS boy for KINGPIN, I'm sick of seeing his face lol, way too obvious and I'd be thinking SOPRANOS, so kudos on that!

BUTLER's a given, but damn I really like your SCORPION pick, a hellz yes from me, QUALITY FAN-FIC, Epic Win, thumbs 'R' up!!!

Thanks guys.
Leee@ Glad you like the Scorpion pick. I did not want to go for the obvious choices like "SOPRANOS boy", but thought that Lynch would be original. Coates has a great vilain type face, ESPECIALLY for Scorpion.
Butler is perfect.

BTW: For Kingpin - It's "Carroll" - not "Carrol - my bad!

Ryden@ Thanks. You are welcome. I was a fan of The Animated Spider-Man (1990s) series and alot of inspiration for casting Smythe came from it.

UnfriendlySpidey@ Cheers! Coates is no stranger to playing the bad guy. Some actors just suit villain roles and Coates is one of them. On my way to check out your fan fic...

Anil@ Thanks man. I don't recall seeing Flanagan mentioned before for Chameleon, but he is so underrated. Loved "Smokin Aces".
Maybe my choice for Kingpin might catch on?

DanielThomasRandKai@ Thanks for the compliment. Sorry you don't like Suchet but he rocked as POIROT.

It would be interesting for Raimi to have made 6 Spider-Man movies. If he had, I would have cast Raimi himself as Mysterio.

Great Cast!

But J.K Simmons in the whole prvious franchise and Hayden Church as Sandman in Spider-Man 3 did well enough, so it's quite a bad thing for having a reboot and lost them..

But great choice!
