Right now, both Marvel and DC are publishing high-quality, hardback graphic novels called SEASON ONE and EARTH ONE. While Marvel seems occupied with telling origins of many characters, and DC has only done Superman and Batman, and is focusing on sequels to those books, they both have one thing in common: they are basically the ideal film adaptation of the respective character, in graphic novel form. Here is a list of everything that has come out so far:

Marvel:
SPIDER-MAN SEASON ONE
HULK SEASON ONE
FANTASTIC FOUR SEASON ONE
DAREDEVIL SEASON ONE
DOCTOR STRANGE SEASON ONE
ANT-MAN SEASON ONE
X-MEN SEASON ONE

WONDER WOMAN: EARTH ONE
NIGHTWING: EARTH ONE
Marvel:
THE AVENGERS SEASON ONE
IRON MAN SEASON ONE

Now, that is just what has been announced. However, I believe both lines are missing important characters. So here is what I think they should release in the near future.
DC: While DC is heading in the right direction, I believe they are skipping over some very important characters. Here is what I think they should do after NIGHTWING, in order that they should be released:
GREEN LANTERN: EARTH ONE
THE FLASH: EARTH ONE
SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE VOLUME THREE
BATMAN: EARTH ONE VOLUME THREE
AQUAMAN: EARTH ONE
GREEN ARROW: EARTH ONE
JUSTICE LEAGUE: EARTH ONE
Marvel: In my opinion, Marvel is doing better simply due to the fact that they are releasing more characters more frequently. But, like DC, they are skipping over some important characters. Also, they should do graphic novels about some characters who really don't have a definitive origin story, or story arc.
