Top 5 Heroes Who You Could Do A Batman Begins Or Man Of Steel Style Take On There Mythology

First things first, its best I explain what I mean by a Batman Begins or Man Of Steel style movie. What I mean is, we take Superheroes, with their powers - or perhaps slightly altered powers – so they could fit into a world that broadly speaking resemble our own. By doing this we can flesh the characters out, making them more 3 dimensional, and relatable, because they struggle in a world we ultimately recognize.

1

Sandman1-1-.jpg

The Sandman Wesley Dodd has had an excellent series of comics, that is just begging for a real world, dark, gritty film interpretation. The series was set in a pulp noir world, in which the Sandman Wesley, was frequently plagued with prophetic dreams, and embroiled in mysterious crime thrillers.

You could really play with this, questioning Wesley´s sanity throughout. Are these dreams really prophetic, or is he simply a mad, yet brilliant detective. It would be fun keeping people on the edge, while they try and work it out.

Spawn Classic.jpg

Spawn is a really obvious one. They´ve already produced an excellent cartoon, where Spawns potential for a really cool movie was illustrated. Unfortunately when they made the Spawn film, no really good model for a dark, grittier, edgier comic book movie existed. It´s really time to revisit that guy, cause he had a really interesting story and great villains that could be modernized for our age.

Witchblade 100 (by Michael Turner & Marc Silvestri).jpg

Witchblade is another superb and well received comic that came from Image Comics in the 90s.
It had a strong female lead, who was New York city detective. It would be very easy to transport her story into a real world film.

Now this one I must admit I´m already working on. I think she gets ignored a lot of the time when DC are doing some very interesting things with the other two members of the trinity. It would be a pity if she´s missed in this update, because with a little imagination, her world, her story and her powers could make for a beautiful looking movie. A mixture of the ultra-real, and the utterly fantastical.

I´ve actually written a very brief Man Of Steel Style trailer for, Wonder Woman script I´m working on.

Check out the link

here

It even has a Hans Zimmer track to listen to, while reading. No good DC trailer can exist without one these days, after all.

I personally think Marvel/Fox should drop Hugh Hackman, for a new Wolverine, and whilst they´re at it do a really kick ass 3d X-Men Reboot. This time set in a darker dystopian near future, with a real world edge. I mean after all, the X-men ultimately is a satire, critiquing very real world issues of exclusion and discrimination of groups. The closer you have that story to a world people can feel and recognize, and more complex versions of the X-Men characters, the more those themes will hit home.

FOX will never do a more complex, darker, grittier version of the X-Men...how would they be able to sell tickets and toys to kids, which seems to be their main focus audience when it comes to this franchise?

I like all your ideas. Tom Hardy would be my pick for a darker Wolverine.

Tom hardy would be perfect, good call. I would love to see a real X-Men movie. What i would LOVE would be an old man logan. They could flash back scrnes to how the heros lost. I think it would be fantastic.

i wanna see an X-Man battle scene like the sweeping panoramic scene in The Avengers where it showed each character fighting...

Imagine seeing Rogue swooping in and punching Juggernaut while in the back Storm is lightning blasting a Sentinal while Wolverine is claw-climbing on the back of till he slashes its head off, he then rides its falling body straight into a ferocious fight with Sabretooth...move on to Cyclops ordering the team to move foward while he tries to optic blast Magneto but his magnetic forcefield deflects to a shot of Gambit and Beast battling Pyro and Avalanche while Mystique begins to fight Storm and shapeshifts into other marvel characters trying to get the upper hand...

u get the idea im trying to go with right?, even the kind of battles that were portrayed in the animated series were awesome, thats how i always pictured an X-Men fight against its villians

As long as Fox has the X-Universe of characters we will never see a faithful Old Man Logan film. Marvel owns the rights to too many important charactera, Red Skull being number one.

So until Marvel gets the X-Rights back, please god no. Do not attempt Old Man Logan.

This site really needs the editors to edit.

If they keep rebooting the X-Men, it will diminish the product and dissipate the audience.

@ThunderKat

wtf are you on? They haven't full-on rebooted X-Men once.

And the product has already diminished, along with a dissipated audience.

^How else do you explain one of the best superhero films ever (XMFC) underperforming the way it did.

It's because nobody gives a shit about the X-Men films anymore.
