The two largest comic book publishers have their fair share of spectacular characters, but which would be victorious in battle? You decide with over a dozen battles between Marvel and DC's biggest players, including Batman, Superman, the Hulk and Magneto!

I'm putting together a piece with a friend on the debate of Marvel vs. DC, and we decided that we'd pitt single characters from the publishers against each other. It would be really valuable to have the opinions of comic fans to back up the piece, so I've devised 14 BATTLES for you guys to vote on.

There aren't really rules as such, but preferably vote for the character who you honestly think would win the fight, not necessarily the one you prefer. It's ability-based, so every power, trick, gadget or weapon is available (for example, Thanos gets his Infinity Gauntlet, Batman gets his gadgets, Black Widow has her guns). The fights range from the tactical to the heavyweights, from gods to tricksters, so here begins the battle that is MARVEL vs. DC!

UPDATE: There's been a bit of bewilderment over some of the match-ups. Some are based purely on ability similarities, such as Cap vs. Batman, some are based on similar traits, like Joker vs. Loki, mischief and chaos etc. and others are a combination. I've changed the Spider-Man/Nightwing match-up to Blue Beetle as the other one was way too unbalanced.

ya, most of these match-ups are weighted in such a way that the DC characters would normally win most of these fights. like Loki v.s Joker isn't even a real fight. come on. green lantern v.s iron man? magneto v.s sinestro? weighted battles. no contest.

Batman vs Captain America-too close to call, not voting.

Spider-Man vs Nightwing-Spidey and it's not close at ALL.

Superman vs The Hulk-too close to call, not voting.

Storm vs Wonder Woman-WW wins she outclasses Storm everywhere, this is not even fair.

Green Lantern vs Iron Man-again not even fair, GL stomps.

Wolverine vs Doomsday-Doomsday stomps, again it seems these are rather unfair matches.

Thor vs Shazam-very close but I'd go with Shazam, physically I'd rate them around equal but Shazam is like 10 billion times faster than Thor so Billy wins.

Catwoman vs Black Widow-I really wanna say Catwoman, but BW is objectively a better and more equipped fighter at the end of the day.

Green Arrow vs Hawkeye-too close too call, not voting.

Flash vs Quicksilver-Flash stomps.

Joker vs Loki-horrible match, Loki one shots Joker into next week.

Magneto vs Sinestro-I'd say Sinestro is more powerful.

Green Goblin vs Lex Luthor-Again, GG wins with a single punch.

Darkseid vs Thanos-I'd go with Darkseid but I'm not totally sure.

These fights either range from the "to close to call", to the utter ridiculous. The good match-ups presented are the ones we've been arguing about for decades. How about, Spidey vs Booster Gold or Blue Beetle (Jaimie). Doomsday would be more apt to a Silver Surfer or a Phoenix.

Darkseid would make Thanos his bitch, literally.

1)Cap, could go either way but Cap is way more stronger in terms of power levels and it would be hard to get that shield from him.

I don't read comics. I went by what i've seen in movies and what I think I know.

I went with:

13. Lex Luthor (i assumed his got some badass suit on)

I had to set the fights up using well-known characters or those who've been in movies and games recently, so some I had no choice but to weigh one way (like Spidey vs. Nightwing, Spidey wins every time). If I had a bit more freedom to use charcters more suited to the fights I would.

in all honesty a lot of these were very unfair battles. DC has way more overpowered characters, but my question is were is silver surfer...

I actually thought Marvel might dominate this, so some of my original match-ups were different. I thought Thor would easily beat Shazam because he's a god, Black Widow would smash Catwoman, Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet >>>>>>>>>> Darkseid, Hawkeye is a trained agent (Arrow is not) and Spidey was better than Nightwing. But anyway. I've changed one of the matches and I appreciate the feedback.

virileman, you're delusional, you use batman tax as a comparison against comic book cap? try taking some of the dark knights comic book feats and I'm sure that will stack up much differently. and storm beating wonder woman?? now i know you're a marvelite because that is a very dumb claim, for all her abilities storm is a regular human, ww would flick her and shed die, end of story.

Wait! So crossovers only count when they suit your cause am I right? Because Batman has beaten and tied Cap in crossovers...so why don't you count those? I'm not saying Bats shoulda won but how can you count crossover where Thor and Storm win but not count ones where Batman ties and wins??

And btw, WW would destroy Storm so bad it's not even funny hasn't Storm lost to Spider-Man because he was too fast for her to strike and he was too strong for her human level body to handle?? Well I'll give ya a hint: WW is a lot faster and a lot stronger than Spider-Man.

@Staypuffed, Thanks for the match-ups in the first place. There is a large contingent of us who like this sort of thing. Thanks for listening and making the adjustment, I appreciate it.

Cap is stronger and faster than Bats. In the cross overs it's either been a tie, or Bats conceding he'd lose.

Spidey vs BB, This is really tough, I still say Spidey but it could either way

Supes- Just as strong on the outset(if not stronger) and way more abilities.

WW- Stronger, faster, can fly as well.

Shazam- This is a tough one but CM is as fast as the flash.
BW

GA- A lot of people will say because Hawkeye is a trained agent, he'd win. GA is a master acrobat, the greatest archer on the planet, is a master swordsman and has trained in hand to hand with his wife BC, among others.

lol, shes as fast as flash at cruising speed and she's got better reflexes than superman, tell me how she wouldn't be able to dodge storms lightning? no that it would matter as storms lightning isn't magical in nature so i don't see how it would cause that much damage to her in the first place

ill give you the speed and strength for cap but batman is just as tactically sound and he's a better fighter than cap, he's got more martial skill, its comes out about even id say

yeah i agree with you that cap has no fatigue toxins, so the longer the fight goes the more it favours cap but at the outset batman has the upper hand because he's more skilled martially, with pressure points and all that plus his gadgets
