Why Adrien Brody should play Doctor Strange

More-Less a follow up to "Levine or Derrickson: Who should direct Doctor Strange"

Doctor Strange is no doubt going to be coming soon and I can't help but believe it'll be July of 2016. That being said, In my previous article regarding this film, I broke down two of the potential shortlist candidates to direct and possibly write the film. My choice was Scott Derrickson who has wrote and directed The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister while has directed, The Day The Earth Stood Still and has a film coming out called, Deliver Us From Evil. Again, his blend of realsim in our world with the possibilities of another world in a very dramatic, suspensful, tense film makes him the perfect choice. Onto the topic of today, I was doing some thinking and a lot of people have their preferences for who they think should play, The Sorcerer Supreme. Who do I think would be best fit? Adrien Brody.

Adrian Brody hasn't had much of a career, making all the bad decisions for the most part
since he won an Academy Award at the young age of 29 for his role in, The Pianist. What makes Brody the right choice for the role of, the good doctor? Let me explain. Adrien Brody as I stated has won an academy award so, he clearly has the acting chops and if you've seen predators, you know the guy can get in shape for the role.

But, it's the fact that you can buy him as such an arrogant person whose life has a downward spiral that he would go to such a place just to be able to use his hands again. You can buy him as a man who leads a life to redeem himself and learn lessons from his arrogance. If you were to put him in a Scott Derrickson directed, Doctor Strange film. I think not only would he bring the qualities listed above that Stephen Strange has but also, would bring an immense amount of intensity to the film and if he could bring the dramatic chops he had in, The Pianist. He would make for one of the best casting decisions Marvel has made. Not to mention the man is forty years old, he is at the right age to where if they wanted to turn, Doctor Strange into a franchise. They could use Adrien Brody for the role.

This wouldn't be Brody's first time in science fiction/fantasy/action-adventure either. He had a role in Peter Jackson's King Kong where he was one of the highlights of the film, at least to me any ways. Not to mention he played the leading character, Roy, in 2010's under appreciated Predators film. He was a worthy leading man in the film showing that he could do intense action films while still playing a character we don't know much about but still invested into the character. Maybe not emotionally but, we were invested into his character.

While this wouldn't be a Marvel risk unlike Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man or James Gunn directed their riskiest film yet, Guardians of the Galaxy. Adrien Brody being cast as Doctor Strange in Phase Three and maybe even beyond would give us an academy award winning actor who hasn't been a name since that would give us an actor we know and love but, the actor playing the character wouldn't over shadow the character. But, an actor who could still do the character justice and be believeable in the role to where we would be invested into the character and his world.

He would be great.
He needs a major career boost and I think this would do wonders for him as it did for RDJ.
Brody is a very talented actor.

I'd also love to see Colin Farrell get the role.
He has so much charisma on screen and he's a very very talented and underrated actor. I saw him in Saving Mr Banks last year and he blew me away.

Anybody could be Stephen V Strange, which makes casting calls on him really hard.

In the comics he's an older but good looking guy. Hollywood is full of those. His personality is not all that extreme either, a bit stern demeanor, a factual man, not easily fazed. A scholar, a planner and strategist.

He himself should be quite plain in appearance really, its his trappings and what he surrounds himself with that makes him extraordinary, not his own personality or looks. (Which is why I'm not a big advocate of Depp.)

I'd love it if they kept his origin intact. Thus making him somewhere between 80 and 100 years old, it'd allow for a lot of cool little callbacks to Marvel's history and give him an interesting perspective.

Brody would be awesome though.

I can't put my finger on an actor I would want to play Strange, but all the people that keep getting mentioned I don't agree with.

Brody? Not a chance. Colin Farrel? No way. Johnny Depp? No. He's way too goofy and would try to bring his stupid nonsense to the role, like he does in all of the movies he's in now.

I just can't think of anyone though.

Not bad. I like your train of thought. It's almost parallels the logic for casting RDJ. Real life direction of career/life suits character. At least that's what I got from it.

I would rather see somebody a little less obvious like Edward Burns. I think the dude is long overdue for a breakout role and he's apparently eager to try out a CBM role now.

maybe you haven't seen this failed attempt at starting a rumor
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/doctor_strange/news/?a=95191
they need to consider these directors:
Carl Rinsch (47 Ronin)
Guy Moshe (Bunraku, Holly)
John Stalberg, Jr. (High School, Limbo)
Gareth Evans (The Raid, Berandal)
I could see Gareth Evans directing Doctor Strange for Marvel and people going nuts when they find out, Fiege said he looks at directors that did something really, really cool. they've done every genre; techno-thrillers, viking movies, political thrillers, heist movies, now they can do a martial arts film with supernatural elements.

Yep Brody's my pick as well. I think he'd bring something as an actor to the MCU that none of the other players do, and he'd also be able to hold his own amongst them.
