Hugh Jackman Talks about Wolverine at the UK Premiere of Real Steel

Hugh Jackman still doesn't believe that he has given the fans the perfect portrayal of Wolverine, and he would like another chance to "nail it," as he says.

You can just tell that he absolutely adores this character. Although, I have to assume that this will be the last time we see Jackman as Wolverine. In first class he was starting to show his age, and if you are playing Logan, even mild wrinkles take away from the character's special abilities. And don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Jackman, and his version of Wolverine, but it's almost time to go out and find a new Logan. Agree or disagree?

Jackman and Fox will milk the Wolverine franchise for as
long as they can.Jackman's career isn't great outside
Wolverine so he isn't going anywhere.

this better be good because apart from x-men 2 & x-men first class which was good in places, most of fox cbm's are shit.

I gotta disagree with Nailbiter111 on this one. I think he could play Logan until he's 60...that's why Hollywood hires make-up people DUUUUHHH. Not to mention, has anyone ever heard of a little story entitled "Old Man Logan"? Logan does indeed age. Hugh has about 2-3 more Wolverine performances in him and he'll make us proud for sure.

@MovieTheaterLad Hopefully it works for him.I don't
dislike Jackman to wish him bad,but besides Wolverine
I can't think of anything good yet.By the way Real
Steel looks bad to me.

I got to see an early screening of Real Steel over the weekend. Definitely a fun movie, worth the price of admission.

I agree, time to have someone else´s version of the character.

He is one of the most passionate actors when it comes to comic book hero portrayals which is what I like about Hugh Jackman. Other actors just do the role because they have a contract for 3 movies and then move on. I say he should do it as long as the studio lets him and if he starts to look too old, make an old man Logan movie.

Reboot the shit out of the X-movies, especially Wolverine. They murdered this character.

"I still don't think we've nailed him...and err I really wanna get him..."

Fair comment...I think Hugh at the moment is our best chance of truly seeing Wolverine on film...he's been playing him for so long...

Any new actor would definitely not nail him first go...let Hugh have one more crack at it...if it don't work...time to move on...

I like Jackman's protrayal of Wolverine. This is his moneymaker and if he understands that more needs to be shown on screen then I say give him a chance. I can't picture another star that I would want to slip on the claws right now. If they can hurry it up and make it bloody and rated R then it may be redeeming.

Wolverine's got decades of source. I say run Jackman through Wolvie's timelines and lead into some Old Man Logan. I honestly can't picture someone else doing it. I've seen fancasts but most of em are stupid. Jackman is a great Wolvie and I am a lifelong X Men fan. I've always thought he's been one of the best CBM castings ever. Everything about him is Wolverine...from the look and build to the voice and the way he talks.

@Nomis: you're correct. Wolverine is 5'3" not 6'3" like Jackman.

Indeed, Jackman wants to give us a better portrayal of Logan and I agree but directors and producers get in the way. I don't care about his height, in fact it serves the character in a live setting. I makes him more menacing and more of a force to reckon with. A much shorter actor may not come across, on screen as formidable when put into action.

I can keep watching Jackman as Wolvie forever.

Reboots can be an easy/*cheap* cop-out. It's the new Hollywood (and fanboy) "knee jerk reaction".

Keep what works, throw out what doesn't.

Surely the older he gets the more he looks like Logan? Wolverine isn't meant to be some anti-wrinkle cream wearing metro sexual.

I remember something about Aaronovsky wanting Hugh to put on an extra 20-30 pounds when he was set to direct The Wolverine, making Hugh more stocky and more in line with the classic description of Logan. If Hugh's been working out for a year for this-director defections and script concerns aside-I'll be interested to see how that translates on film. And fer cripes sake, how 'bout a little blood-on-claws action? This ain't the A-Team...LOL

Hugh is too hard on himself when it comes to Wolverine, he always has been, and very candid about it too.

he's done justice to the character and always treating Wolverine with respect.

Yep, he's too tall. and as a geek that bothers me. But the depth and ferocity he's always brought to the role is highly commendable, and he deserves every dollar of success its brought him.

As far as Jackman being too old....

He's 42.
Jack Nicholson was 57 when he did 'Wolf.'

I think he set the bar for anyone else to play the character. It would be cool if they made a Wolverine franchise liek they did with Bond. Different actors but relative continuity.

I like it when the interviewer asks him "are you happy with wolverine ? do you enjoy him ?" and Jackman looks at him like he's an idiot and says "I love him, he's eternally fascinating to me"

The only thing Jackman can possibly be unhappy about is creative differences holding up the production of what could possibly go down in time as the best protrayal of a comic book character ever. He knows what needs to be done to correct the wrongs created in XO: Wolverine, but FOX is holding back the greatness that could be created.
