The speculation surrounding who will star in Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot shows no sign of slowing down, but it appears we have at least one semi-confirmed cast member.
Despite reports the role of Invisible Woman was Margot Robbie's for the taking, we've since learned that Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One star Vanessa Kirby has emerged as the frontrunner. It's a great casting choice if correct and Murphy's Multiverse believes she's a lock for the role.
According to the side, "Kirby is the only actor believed to have actually agreed to a deal before the SAG strike."
In other words, all signs point to her being the MCU's Sue Storm. Again, it's hard to find fault with that decision and we're sure she'll do this strong female character - and the most powerful member of this team - justice on screen.
As for those rumours about Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn playing the Human Torch, it's said concept art exists of Johnny Storm with the actor's likeness. In fact, this report goes on to say Quinn is "expected to close a deal once Hollywood returns to business as usual."
So, nothing is set in stone, but Marvel Studios and Matt Shakman may well have found the Storm siblings. Where does that leave Mister Fantastic and The Thing? As of now, we don't know.
Matt Smith, who starred alongside Kirby in The Crown, is the latest actor to be thrown into the mix for Reed Richards, though we're hearing Adam Driver remains in contention. Ben Grimm, on the other hand, appears no closer to being cast.
It was recently rumoured that Fantastic Four will be set in the 1960s, with Marvel's First Family later finding their way into the present day similar to Captain America. If true, it's a clever way to put a fresh spin on the team while leaning into the tone of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's early Fantastic Four adventures.
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
