While John Krasinski proved himself an immense talent in The Office, it wasn't until 13 Hours and Jack Ryan that we realised he could be an action star as well. Later, the actor did a terrific job behind the camera by taking the helm of The Quiet Place franchise, so it's really no wonder he became a fan-favourite choice to play Mister Fantastic in the MCU.
There's an undeniable physical similarity between Krasinski and Reed Richards, and we got to see that first-hand when he made a cameo appearance as the Fantastic Four leader in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
While his scenes as a member of The Illuminati were brief, fans have been left eager for more and hope he'll reprise the role in 2024's Fantastic Four reboot. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Krasinski cryptically addressed the possibility of returning as the stretchy superhero.
Here's the full exchange:
Fallon: Comic-Con, they just announced all these new movies, and they announced that there’s gonna be a new Fantastic Four movie.
Krasinski: Yes.
Fallon: You’re not allowed to say anything.
Krasinski: Nope.
Fallon: I’m not allowed to really ask you.
Krasinski: That’s right.
Fallon: But...you think? You think?
Krasinski: You think?
Fallon: Do you think? Could one think?
Krasinski: Seriously, what have you heard? I need to know.
Fallon: They don’t tell you anything?
Krasinski: They don’t tell you anything.
Fallon: Not until right before you’re about to shoot.
Krasinski: That’s right.
Fallon: And there’s also a rumor that your wife, Emily Blunt, would play Sue Storm.
Krasinski: Oh!
Fallon: You think? Do you think?
Krasinski: Jimmy, I’m gonna tell you on your show, it’s...
Fallon: Oh my god! Someone killed him right now, can we get him a medic? That’s acting right there!
Krasinski: No, it’s actually a Marvel dart. That’s a Marvel dart, there’s a guy walking around.
If his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo was a one-off, he'd just say he wasn't coming back, right? Fans have made it clear these past few months that they won't accept anyone else as Mister Fantastic in Fantastic Four, so fingers crossed Marvel Studios has taken that support on board.
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on November 8, 2024.
