FANTASTIC FOUR: Toby Kebbell Reveals A Surprising Twist For 'Doom'

The Dead Man's Shoes actor stirred up some controversy last year when he said that Doctor Doom had been reinvented as a computer programmer named Victor Domashev for the reboot, but in a new interview he clarifies things - while giving fans something else to whine about!

So it seems Toby Kebbell was either winding people up last year with all that Victor Domashev stuff, or Fox got wind of the backlash and decided to make a few alterations. SuperHeroHype caught up with the British actor at SDCC and asked him about this take on the character, and based on what he says here, the villain's name is Victor von Doom and he's not a hacker (guess he was misinterpreted) but a computer technician. Kebbell also goes into some detail on Doom's origins, and reveals that he'll have a much closer bond with the Storms that we'd realized, actually suggesting that the good Doctor views him as another adopted son.

"There’s no conversation about [Doom’s origins] in the film. We don’t have time to talk about me- I would love it, but we don’t have real time. Yeah, he’s still from the same place, his mother is still a gypsy and done her deals, his father still perished from exposure looking after me. He’s angry. He’s an angry dude. But now he’s in Baxter. He’s bright and he’s trying to make people proud. He found a new father in Dr. Storm, the father of Johnny and adoptive father of Sue. I kind of get adopted as well, in a fantastic performance by Reg E. Cathey. And that’s Doom as we see him. He’s a computer technician, a computer scientist. There were rumors he was a hacker or something, but no. Victor Von Doom is who we hope he will be."

Check out the video interview at the link below. Directed by Josh Trank, The Fantastic Four reboot stars Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, Kate Mara as Invisible Woman, and Jamie Bell as the Thing. The film is scheduled for release on August 7, 2015.

If Dr. Doom is done right in this film, Fox should make a Doom spin-off titled, "Latveria." It'll be about Doom defending his Kingdom, against "outsiders."

Dr. Storm must feel like a monster when all of his children (adopted or otherwise) are turned into mutant freaks.

Gotta agree with most. You can't pull a chump on a stump when things are not looking too good. Own what your movie was originally and let things play out. If it's good, then great! If is misses the target, aim better next time.

I cannot wait. I'm hoping it retains elements of the Lee-Kirby era.

Don't want to rain on anybody's parade. I know how that feels with all the negative crap on Ant-man movie early on. But this is a Fox movie, and it's not looking very promising.
