Josh Trank Comments On FANTASTIC FOUR Reviews And The "Fantastic" Version We'll Never See
Following the negative response to Fantastic Four (it currently sits at 9% on Rotten Tomatoes), Josh Trank has taken to Twitter to comment on the response to the movie, and appears to lay the blame at the feet of Fox by stating his version would have received great reviews...
I didn't like Fantastic Four, but it has some great moments, particularly in the first half. If I was a betting man, I'd put those fleeting glimpses of a good movie down to Chronicle director Josh Trank. However, as many of you have already guessed, it appears as if his vision for the iconic Marvel heroes was ruined by Fox and the reshoots which have left it a disjointed and disappointing mess.
Taking to his Twitter account tonight, Trank has seemingly confirmed that there were indeed some serious issues behind the scenes. We don't know why Fox didn't move forward with his version (we do at least know that the negative fan reaction to "Victor Domanshev" led to him being renamed to Victor Von Doom), but the filmmaker clearly believes his take from a year ago would have fared better. Of course, we're never going to see it. Instead, we're left with a Fantastic Four which is currently one of the worst reviewed comic book movies of all-time with 9% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Hopefully Trank will reveal more details about his original vision and what went wrong now that the movie is out and he has no reason to keep up appearances. What do you think about these comments? UPDATE: The Tweet has now been deleted, but a screengrab can be seen below.
