A tiresome debate ignited earlier this month when rising star Michael B. Jordan was revealed to be in early talks to re-team with Chronicle director Josh Trank for FOX's Fantastic Four reboot. Possibly playing the role of Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch, Jordan recently discussed the potential casting with USA Today and The Huffington Post. Revealing first and foremost that, "Nothing is real. Everyone knows we (he and Trank) are good friends," Michael does admit, "It's something that if it happened I would be ecstatic." Addressing his and the superhero's obvious racial difference, Jordan argues that, "Things change and time goes on, it's 2013 right now. I'm all about breaking barriers and changing stuff," says Jordan. "We've got a black president. Times have changed. The characteristics of the Human Torch are his name is Johnny Storm, he's charismatic, and he's a playboy. That's it. You know what I'm saying? That's all there is." Rest assured, Michael B. Jordan says he's received a lot of Twitter love and believes most are ready to embrace the possibility.
"I get a lot of support and a lot of love from comic-book geeks. I love it. If you go looking for negative things you're going to find it. You never go through a girl's phone. If you're looking for trouble, you're going to find it. But we'll see where this all goes." What do you think?

Anyhow, The Fantastic Four reboot is scheduled to film in Vancouver later this year under the working title Henry Street, and Josh Trank directs the film into theaters on March 6, 2015!

Here comes a war...

One side argues that it shouldn't matter if a white comic character is played by a black actor as long as he could act, while the other side argues that the actor needs to look like the character he's playing...... Let me get some popcorn.

Jordan is a great guy, and seeing his performance in Chronicle alone has convinced me enough that he can nail Johnny. However, it's not his race that I'm concerning about; it's his tie with Sue. And yes, I'd be fine with them being adopted siblings, as that might just spice things up a bit, between them - well, whatever, really, as long as they stay siblings!

Sue's dad could have a black wife and johnny could be her son as well. Or Johhny could have a black mom that adopted him. I dunno, this is not one of those ideas that you think "wouldn't it be great if the Human Torch was black?". They probably left the casting open for this movie.

That means the Invisible Woman would have to be black as well

Nah I don't think they'd be able to pull a "Nick Fury race change" on this one

If you're going to change a character's race because you just want to, can we at least get an Asian or Latino character in here somewhere? Seriously. Apparently "this is 2013 and we have a black President" means every character has to be black or white and then we can celebrate at how diverse and progressive we are. Get over yourself.

I was all for the new Ultimate Spiderman being an other race. White people do kinda fill the MCU (im a white guy myself) and I dont think thats very fair. With that being said, this is a real crappy idea. I like the guy, he did great in Chronicle and im all for seeing him in another movie but not as Johny Storm. Then Sue has to be an african american. Now youve changed the races of 2 of the 4 people on the team which are more of a family then a team anyway. Its just not a good idea at all. Hope they dont go this route. I dont give a crap about F4 anyway since the last 2 movies were as bad as X3(worst superhero movie EVER) but I do want Marvel movies to prevail so we get more.
