Saoirse Ronan Out Of STAR WARS Running; Calls FANTASTIC FOUR Discussions "Rumor"

It seems that the lovely Miss Ronan won't be swinging that lightsaber around after all, as the Irish actress admits to The Playlist that she hasn't landed the role. She also comments on being linked to the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, and it sounds like she never even auditioned..

A while back Saoirse Ronan confirmed that the rumors of her auditioning for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII were indeed true -- but she went on to say that "everyone" had gone in and read for a role, so it really wasn't that big a deal. Well it seems even that slight admittance may have been enough to hurt her chances, as she reveals to The Playlist. "I don't have Star Wars. I don't have the role," said Ronan, apparently sounding quite disappointed. "I just shouldn't have said anything. I just auditioned for it, like everyone else did." Sounds like Ronan learned the hard way that when an actor discusses a role he/she might be up for in too much detail, or -- worse still -- confirms a potential casting rumor, they rarely (if ever) get the role. There's another big movie we're unlikely to see Ronan appear in, but not because she didn't land the part -- it seems that talk of her being up for Sue Storm in Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot was way premature. "I only heard that rumor. I'm not signed up for Fantastic Four." Although she also says she'd be up for taking on a role in a movie of that scale, "if it was the right thing." Of course she might just have learned her lesson after missing out on Star Wars and be playing it safe here! Guess we'll find out soon enough. There's much more at the link below.

Too bad, she's a pretty good actress. I can understand the companies feelings on keeping the audition details a secret.

If they can't trust you to keep the audition details to yourself, then how can they trust you to keep details of the film?

Also, I'm kind of interested on how she knows she didn't get the role, did they call her and say that they have someone else? Or did they simply tell her that she revealed more then she should, and she wouldn't get the role?

Or is their a possibility that she DOES have the role is just playing us?

We've known about the film for a year and all we have is speculation. I think these days that is an accomplishment for a film company for so many things get leaked nowadays.

Should have taken the Scarlett Witch role, if she was offered it.

Seems like Star Wars is in development hell right now, but they will force something out anyway. Maybe she is better off not getting a role in it.

Go back to your Twilight spin-off. You shouldn't have snobbed that Hobbit role PJ offered you.

What was the rumor about her and Scarlet Witch? If she really turned down that role for an audition in Star Wars that she then proceeded to screw up, that really sucks.

Or is she out of Star Wars because she is Sue Storm and can't do both films?

And yet, if rumors are true she gave up the Scarlet Witch role for the Avengers 2. She needs to fire her agent!

she's gorgeous. AND a very good actress-er...i mean.."acTOR".
(we're not allowed to say "actress" anymore, its sexist even if you didnt mean it that way)

i want her to be supergirl in a MoS sequel/spinoff.
i also want her...

I wouldn't cast her in a school play, playing the part of a tree. I don't know what it is, but something isn't right with her, maybe the face or the empty soulless gaze.

Sue Storm will be African-American, according to a little birdy, the studio execs are interested in a big birdy for Invisible Woman. None other than Gabourey Sidibe, aka Precious.

Talented? Every movie she has been in is two hours of her either, crying, looking confused, or lost. My Jack Russel acts better when she drags her butthole on the carpet.

@weiner

You obviously must be insecure with your own sexuality that you feel the need to call others gay. Just because somebody doesn't find the horrible actress and all around weird looking Saoirse Ronan complete boner candy like you, a basement dweller, does not necessarily make them gay. They may in fact have great taste in either sex. Consult your Dr the next time you decide to go off of your medication.

And I add ....

I agree that she should have taken Scarlet Witch if it was on the table. That's a mistake she'll have to live with... And it's a shame too because she really does look like ATJ, moreso than Olsen anyways.

Thank god she isn't in Avengers and Fantastic Four. She is terrible. She should have gotten Star Wars as crap belongs with crap. Yes, I called Star Wars crap. I love what the franchise has done for film but that is it. Maybe she will be in Wonder Woman and have it bomb
