Before they stood between Earth and Galactus in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel's First Family were already legendary superheroes, idolised by the inhabitants of Earth-828.

Over the past year, Marvel Comics has been exploring their thrilling early adventures in special Fantastic Four: First Foes one-shots, and the series reaches its epic conclusion this December. 2026 will conclude with Fantastic Four: First Foes - The Wizard #1 by writer Fabian Nicieza and returning artist Mark Buckingham.

Set within the world of the blockbuster, the comic expands on the history of the team by revealing their earliest clashes with some of their most notorious adversaries. The last of the one-shots promises to be its most revelatory to date with the introduction of one of the team's oldest foes, The Wizard, along with his team of sinister Fantastic Four counterparts known as the Frightful Four.

Here's the official description for Fantastic Four: First Foes - The Wizard #1:

Bentley Wittman is too great a genius to be ignored! He deserves all the accolades given to the Fantastic Four, and he will prove his intellectual superiority by embarrassing them and stealing the globally renowned monument to science — the Baxter Building! And to accomplish that amazing feat, the Wingless Wizard will create...the Frightful Four!

Hyping up the comic, Nicieza said, "Getting to write the Fantastic Four is something I haven't done often enough in my career, so I relish every chance I can get, and getting to expand on the First Steps film made it twice as much fun."

"I loved everything about the movie, so getting to work with Mark to reimagine the Wizard and the Frightful Four is pretty much everything that makes these kinds of projects a crunchy continuity candy treat!"

Reflecting on his time drawing all five one-shots set in the world of the film, Buckingham shared, "How fortunate I am to have enjoyed so many Fantastic creative firsts on First Steps and First Foes! My first opportunities to work with the amazing writers Matt Fraction, Charles Soule, Greg Pak, (not forgetting a chance to reunite with Dan Slott), and now the wonderful Fabian Nicieza."

The artist continued, "For this final instalment, Fabian and I bring you not just the Wizard but a whole quartet of Frightful villains to test our fantastic first family to their absolute limits! I can't wait for you all to read it!"

Why not make a special presentation out of these? Almost no one is gonna read this, but an hour presentation showing their early adventures would be neat.

*Reintroduce. Not "introduce". Stan and Jack did that in Strange Tales #102 64 years ago.

These comics are never canon, to the films so why bother?

Wonder what the lineup is going to be since there’s probably rights issues for Sandman and Hydro-Man. And the Inhumans’ place in the MCU is up in the air if they want to use Medusa.

@soberchimera - If I had to guess, they will use the same team as the one used in Ultimate Spider-Man.

@soberchimera - But not on Earth 828.

@soberchimera - as pointed out, the Klaw of the F4 universe might still be alive. I think there is a shot he shows up in this comic.

And personally, I have always held on to a silly theory that Klaw's physical form is dead, but I think he is still alive as a sound file. If anyone actually went to the Soundcloud account that he talked about, he will be unleashed. It's just comic-booky weird enough to work!
