isn't electro black in ultimate spider-man.

I would have said that Thor comes out early in the UK because it was filmed there.... but yeah, Cap sort of shot down that reasoning. Aw well, I'll just stay off this site when it's released.

I haven't seen Michael B Jordan.... in ANYTHING. Bring him on. If he can be a fun, likeable douche like Johnny is supposed to be, then fantastic (ha!). But I think Sue should be white. AND they should be related.

That'd be awesome. Like my brother and I. I'm white as a sheet, and he's quite dark-skinned. Different father.
---

But really, I don't care. I think it's hilarious to see people getting worked up about it though, and then pretending like they're not racist. Or saying: "I'm black, and I don't like it".
What if I said: "I'm black, but I don't like it, Johnny should be white!" all while staring at my white fingers as I type...?
But if you are indeed black, and have a problem with it, then it's really the same as you being white and having a problem with it. Doesn't make you entitled.

---

I've never been impressed by Paul Rudd, not that I'm hoping for a dream actor to play Ant-Man, because I don't even know WHICH Ant-Man he'd be playing!

If Michael B. Jordan is cast as The Human Torch then I would love for Kerry Washington to be cast as Sue.

Jollem@ Have you not seen Angela Bassett lately? For a 55 year old woman she looks extremely young and can keep up with even the youngest.

@tainted87 I disagree and to be honest I find it silly that some people are ok with arbitrarily changing the race of an established character. There is no practical reason for it and if the reason is simply to be different or to create buzz or discussion then I think that's a cheep tactic and I'm insulted. So before you start calling people racist for being a traditionalist try to see that there may just be 2 legitimate sides to the story.
I accept the casting and I like the actor but I don't like the casting and feel that it will only serve to cause division and confusion. Oh and I am half black... So what...

Also saying "I'm black" is not a statement of perceived entitlement it's a explanation of "Context" ...

I think its stupid having him as torch. The general audience already knows Torch is white from the last films. Honestly its really distracting knowing such an iconic character that has recently been on the big screen is getting such a big makeover. I mean they might as well make The Thing a woman.

I know this rumor was squashed a long time ago but I would actually really like to see Simon Pegg as Ant-Man. I think he has the potential to be the next Iron Man. Marvel has some more serious characters on the way, and the Ant-Man franchise is one they can have a lighter tone with. I'm not saying to turn it into an all-out comedy, but it's a film that should be fun and butt-kicking at the same time.

JatevinM - 10/20/2013, 8:37 PM
tripttwe@ I'm not understanding why people are assuming that Michael B. Jordan was cast to be different or to be edgy....doesn't anyone think the guy was cast because of his talent...like he would be perfect acting wise to portray the Human Torch.

@ttipttwe, You are NOT black. I would know. I hate when people come in here LYING like that. And even IF you were (though I know you are not) leave that out, be a MAN, and just say you want a White Torch straight up.

That said...I'm am Black and I really don't GIVE a SH!t either way as long as its good.

Good day MotherFu#ers.

I'm white and i think the torch should be white. So what? Thats how the charechter was created to be. And just like i would never want Luke Cage to be white or Falcon to be white, i want the charechters to be as they were created to be. What is wrong with that? You guys are drama queens, bringing up racism over that. Cornballs!

Angela Bassett is unfortunately too old now to play Storm.

So what if Johnny Storm is black in a new "FF" movie? It's not a change that totally undermines the character, or just makes no sense. If they had cast Captain America with a black actor (I won't say "African American," because..well, there are black actors who aren't American, now, aren't there?), and set it in World War II, it just wouldn't have made sense because in the 40's, black soldiers were segregated and there's no way the Army would have put a black man at the forefront of things they way the character of Cap was in the comics and in the movie. But there's nothing about any of the FF that says, "this character or these characters MUST be Caucasian."
Jimdlux
Jimdlux - 10/21/2013, 3:10 AM
I have no problems with Black actors portraying once Caucasian characters, as long as it is because they were chosen for their acting skills, Michael Duncan Clarke "was" Kingpin, I hated MoS, but the best part of the movie (for me) was Perry White (Lawrence Fishbourne) staying with the woman in the street expecting the end and I had a huge problem with Heimdell being played by Idris Elba, but after seeing his performance, I can't think of anyone else (should anyone else) play the character! Heck, there was no one else who could have played Fury but Samuel L. Jackson!

That said...I don't think having a Black Johnny Storm is a good idea. That means Sue will be black, which means, unless Reed is Black, it will be an interracial marriage, which is a whole other can of worms. I doubt this change will occur, because it will change too much and upset too many people. 1st it will be the people who don't like the race change, then it will be the people who have an issue with interracial relationships. I think if Johnny was "adopted" would be a good idea...

I don't think, as a society, we are ready for changes like this. We will know it, when a Caucasian can play Falcon, Luke Cage or Blade...

Reed Richards is on par with bruce banner and Tony Stark as far as intelligence. How does a young Reed factor into that equation. It always amazes me how many directors are willing to do it the hard way(wrong way) and waste millions of dollars not to mention ruin careers (Superman Returns, Brandon Routh) in order to prove a point. I will not watch this movie. It will flop trying to force feed a johnny Storm I did not grow up with down our throats.

Remember, Ultimate Fantastic Four were teenagers, so the race switcheroo is really the only source material change.

@Tainted How would you feel if we finally got a Black Panther movie and they set Wakanda in South Africa and signed Vincent Cassel to play T'Challa?

That would be blatant racism wouldn't it? Why is everyone so insecure with their own beliefs that you're scared to call bs on such an obvious affront to fans of the character? Jonny Storm has been white in every single incarnation of the character ever portrayed. There's absolutely no reason to change that.

I don't care how great of an actor Michael B. Jordan is, he doesn't fit the character. Why would he even do a screen test?

Hell, it would make more sense to have a black/latino homosexual Spiderman but that would NEVER slide would it?
