FANTASTIC FOUR: Emily Blunt Says She & John Krasinski Have Not Been Contacted About The Marvel Studios Reboot

While Fantastic Four fans would surely love both John Krasinski and Emily Blunt to join the MCU as Reed Richards and Sue Storm, it doesn't sound like either actor has been contacted about the possibility.

Ever since Marvel Studios regained the rights to the Fantastic Four, fans have been clamoring for Kevin Feige and company to cast the real-life husband-wife duo of John Krasinski (The Office; Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan) and Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow; A Quiet Place) as Reed Richards and Sue Storm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it doesn't sound like there's been much movement on that front.

Speaking with Howard Stern recently, Blunt revealed, “That is fan-casting. No one has received a phone call. That’s just people saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be great?’

When pressed on whether she'd actually be interested in doing a superhero movie at some point or if she felt it wasn't worth the time of an actress of her caliber, Blunt, who was the original choice for Natasha Romanoff in 2010's Iron Man 2, admitted that while she's a huge fan of the people making the movies, she doesn't consider herself a fan of the genre.

It’s not that it’s beneath me. I love Iron Man and when I got offered Black Widow I was obsessed with Iron Man. I wanted to work with Robert Downey Jr.—it would’ve been amazing … but I don’t know if superhero movies are for me. They’re not up my alley. I don’t like them. I really don’t.

However, despite sometimes feeling “a bit cold” after getting out of a comic book movie and noting the potential oversaturation of the market, she does say that she'd gladly do one if the right role came along.

It’s been exhausted. We are inundated—it’s not only all the movies, it’s the endless TV shows as well. It’s not to say that I’d never want to play one, it would just have to be something so cool and like a really cool character, and then I’d be interested.”

Whether fans will ever get to see her suit up as Sue Storm (or Emma Frost, or Moonstone) remains to be seen, but it's definitely promising to hear that Blunt is leaving the door open for a potential Marvel role down the line. It's a lot more than we ever got from Ethan Hawke, who has openly expressed his distaste for superhero movies, but also very recently hopped aboard the Marvel bandwagon with a role in the hotly-awaited Moon Knight

Marvel Studios has already announced a Fantastic Four reboot, but it's not expected to arrive in theaters until 2023 or 2024.

It’s Marvel, so they could have been contacted or even cast but are kept in line by the snipers. The MCU knows how to keep things hushed
