We recently learned that casting will soon get (or is already) underway for Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot, and a new report claims that production is scheduled to kick-off next January.
This gives the studio plenty of time to secure its ensemble and prepare for the shoot, but it also means we probably shouldn't expect an official casting announcement for another while yet.
Scooper Daniel Ritchman shared the update (via Patreon), and he added a doozy of a rumor to go with it!
Apparently, Ryan Reynolds is keen to revisit 20th Century Fox's now defunct Marvel franchises in Deadpool 3, and wants the actors who played the foursome in the 2005 FF movie and its sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer, to appear. We have no idea if this is something that's actively in the works or simply an idea that's being tossed around, but it would line-up with another recent rumor we heard about Reed Richards actor Ioan Gruffudd being approached to reprise the role in the MCU.
Of course, if this does pan out, it would also give Captain America actor Chris Evans the opportunity to return as Johnny Storm!
Richtman does tend to be fairly reliable, but we're not reading too much into this for the time being. After all, even if Reynolds is interested in recruiting Gruffudd, Evans, Michael Chiklis (The Thing) and Jessica Alba (Invisible Woman), who's to say they'd be game?
Matt Shakman recently boarded the Fantastic Four reboot as director, with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer currently working on the script. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.
Fantastic Four is currently set to hit theaters February 14th, 2025, while Deadpool 3 will be with us on November 8, 2024.
