BOX OFFICE: THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES Is Already Busting Blocks
The final movie in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy won't open in North America until December 17th, but it's already made some serious coin from overseas markets where it debuted this past Wednesday. Details past the jump.
Though hardly surprising considering the previous two films amassed over a billion dollars, the final instalment in Peter Jackson's Middle Earth saga, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, opened at No. 1 in all 11 overseas territories, where it debuted Wednesday with $11.3 million. The action-packed fantasy flick posted the biggest opening day of the year in eight Countries (Germany, Belgium, Holland, all four Scandinavian territories and Switzerland), and opens today in the UK and Ireland where it's sure to add to its impressive haul ahead of its December 17th release in the US.
