A teaser trailer for Paramount and eOne's upcoming big-budget adaptation of Dungeons and Dragons is expected to debut during San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, and a first look at the movie has now been unveiled thanks to a series of motion posters spotted near the convention (via SFFGazette.com).
The banners are not the best quality, but they do give us a pretty clear glimpse of the fantasy adventure's main characters, who will be played by Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984), Justice Smith (Detective Pikachu, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar, Fast and Furious), Rege-Jean Page (Bridgerton), Sophia Lillis (IT), and Hugh Grant (Paddington 2)
We know Grant will play the main villain, Forge Fletcher, and Lillis is reportedly playing a Druid named Doric, but details on the others are few and far between. Based on these shots, though, we assume Pine will be a Bard, Smith a Mage, Rodriguez a Barbarian, and Page a Paladin.
It's also probably safe to assume that this won't be a particularly serious adaptation of the insanely popular game!
Check out the banners in the links below along with another poster giving us a glimpse of some of monsters our heroes will face in the movie.
Game Night directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley helmed the project, and wrote the latest version of the script based on a previous draft by Michael Gilio. Specific lot details are still under wraps, but the story is said to focus on "a thief assembling a crew in the wake of a botched heist, in order to rob a traitorous conman who stole all his loot."
Derek Kolstad (John Wick; The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) has also been hired to write and develop a separate live-action Dungeons & Dragons television series.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves arrives in theaters March 3, 2023.
