New Godzilla: Resurgence images have surfaced the web that gives us a great new look at Toho's new Godzilla design! Based on the images, people have began to speculate the things that will take place in the film. One theory claims that Godzilla is regenerating, that's why his skin seems quite deformed. August Ragone - A man who's close to the set of the film - backed this theory and said, the design we see today "may not be his only form." What do you think? Like this design wouldn't be so bad if they'd kept the old eyes with this updated look.

American Godzilla looks waaaaaaaaaaay better than this crap.

The Japanese need to know when a major design revamp is necessary. That thing looks ugly and seems like a big [frick]ing joke

@Melkaticox

It's not just here, this design has left the Godzilla fandom very much divided. A lot have been vocal in being displeased with it. The noticeable negative reception in regards to this new Japanese Godzilla found in Godzilla fanpages and groups following this movie has been quite present.

Likewise, there are fans who are slowly warming up to the design and the idea behind it. So it's not all negativity, there is indeed a layer of positive although cautious reception to it from certain sides of the pond.

Mainstream audiences will no doubt turn away from TOHO's venture into reviving the Japanese Godzilla and just stick to the established Warner Bros/Legendary's GODZILLA.
In reading various responses, mainstream movie goers who are aware of Godzilla and this movie, have mostly drawn their lines already. In polite terms the foundation of those many responses are that they are sticking with 2014. Which was and is expected.

But hey, at the end of the day, this is Japan's Godzilla movie, not ours. Passionate G-fans will still go see this upcoming movie, because the action scenes and seeing this in motion will be the deciding factor of judgement for the overall design. I don't really like this look myself, but should the movie be localized overseas, I will give the movie its fair chance to prove itself and its creative decisions.
