GODZILLA Production Clarifies Frank Darabont's Role In Script Writing Process

As more news hits Legendary Picture's Godzilla, what other news rises from the depths?

Today has been very surprising in terms of Godzilla news, from the departure of two producers, to the addition of a new writer. But while the legal dispute may be as clear as day, there are a bit more details thankfully revealed and confirmed.

From the Godzilla 3D page

There's a bit of misconception and worry surrounding the news of new writer Frank Darabont writing Godzilla. He is NOT RE-WRITING the script, he is finalizing it. This is how the process for the film went...

- David Callaham submitted the first draft
- David Goyer rewrote the first draft & fleshed the story out better
- Max Borenstein completed Goyer's rewrite
- Drew Pearce finalized the characters
- Frank Darabont is finalizing the full script.

The story has not changed at all. Just some revisions.

So there you have it, Frank is finalizing the script, its not being completely overhauled or anything like that. And the official start date for shooting is March 14th this year.
