The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion and his murderous Heraklion army rampage across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission. As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus vows to avenge his mother, who was killed in one of Hyperion’s brutal raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra, her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final, desperate battle for the future of humanity.

I think this movie could be entertaining...not oscar material, but could be good.

I like the fact they are putting the gods in the action, they never put the gods in the fights in movies.
Isabel Lucas (Athena) is damn sexy

For some reason, I don't like the look of this film. The costumes look ridiculous and the cinematography looks atrocious. But the choreography looks rather good. I'm not really excited in seeing this film.

I thougth that was badass though!

@ BlairCo:
It does take some getting used to. When i first saw the style i thought it looked horrible, but i've come to like it. Alot actually.

but does anyone know who the god with the sword is? The one that gets killed?
We have Poseidon, Zeus, Athena, Heracles, and...?

Its probably not apollo since he's not supposed to appear in this. Not Ares, that's someone different. Dfinitely not Hephaestus... Is that Hermes?

the action here has more detail than the action in most of action movies, like the ones from this year, specially Thor

nope, gotta give credits to where it's due. and based on this clip, Tarsem deserves all of it. sure, since this came after 300, you just can't deny some similarities, but, the fighting style is rather different and cooler here.

after being disappointed by his previous work (yes, talkin bout THE CELL), i'm glad Tarsem can finally show that he does have the stuff. i'm really looking forward to the day when the powers that be hire him to do an adaptation of the ancient Indian epic, MAHABHARATA. he seems to be born to do the definitive film version of that story.

but, after seeing this clip, i'm scratching my head as to WHY Marvel didn't sign him up for Thor 2..instead this Jenkins gal... this clip's pretty much a BETTER and clearer version of the thor & the gang vs. the frost giants scene.

Looked pretty goofy but I admit that I'm not a fan of Tarsem's work (The Cell, The Fall). For me, he epitomizes the cliche of style over substance.

Stupendous! Zeus(Hammer), Heracles(Bare Hands/Chains), Athena(Twin Kama), & Apollo(Sword)

That was wicked awesome! Beautiful Choreography!

Why does Zeus have a hammer? Thor's gonna sue somebody. It would make sense if Hephaestus had a hammer since he's a blacksmith, but Zeus? C'mon man.

@Jackson

I hear you and I too enjoy the occasional big, dumb, guilty pleasure action movie when it's done well. I guess I just don't much care for Tarsem's visual style or the pretentiousness that's inherent to his films. And here he seems to be doing nothing more than aping Snyder... and not very well at that.

I suspect there's a reason why this hasn't been prescreened for critics...

I really hope its not panned :( It looks good and fun.

And that cinematography looks like a painting come to life.

ThaMessenger07 - 11/9/2011, 8:19 AM
@ soberchimera61, Hephaestus would use a hammer to make Zeus's lightning bolts. But before Hephaestus Zeus used the same hammer to make his own.

Athena Got Impaled and Apollo was dropped with a blow to the head. Not sure what happens to the rest.

Tarsem does share a style with Snyder but i'll always prefer Snyder over Tarsem. Their execution is where their visual differences lie and i feel Tarsem is slightly grittier where as Snyder is cleaner and sharper. They are both visual masters but my heart belongs to Snyder.

Does anyone else find something off with the special effects? Good choreography, but graphics seem low budget to me..and it feels like i'm watching 300..having said that, i'm still gonna give it a shot..Cool idea.
