We have already seen quite a few adaptations(Live action, animated, comics, plays) and variations on the classic story of Beauty And The Beast. Now Del Toro is planning another. He confirms as much to MTV while revealing that he will be keeping the story in the fairytale's original time period. He also says that they are just getting started but that his rumored Beauty Emma Watson is "perfect for the part"..

"It's one of those landmarks, one of those holy grails, and I really hope to do it. We're just starting the process."

"It's a movie that you have to make in the next few years for Emma to be perfect for the part. I think she is the perfect character to do that movie."

So who's going to be the beauty? Watson will be a great beast. looking forward. :)
SugarYumYum
SugarYumYum - 8/12/2011, 9:43 AM
Yes, she is. She has the acting chops and the classy timeless beauty required for this role that's very hard to find with a lot of young actresses. So definitely can see why he's anxious to get this done while she's still young and popular enough for the role.

And yes, this re-telling needs to happen to combat with the stupid "twilight'ed" adaptations we're getting (first Red Riding Hood and now Snow White and the Huntsmen *shudders*). Del Toro will show them how's it done.

Im sorry but when i think of beauty i dont imagine some one who looks 16. I imagine a Woman not a girl. Beast was like 30 something

Hayley Atwell for the win. Voluptuous and beautiful. She screams woman and strong enough to stand up to beast

Beauty(pun intended) is in the eye of the beholder. Now I like a voluptuous, sexy looking woman as much as anyone but I also appreciate classic beauty and Watson has it in abundance. I think she is a perfect match for that role.

He should totally film an adaptation of Record of Lodoss War cause Emma Watson is perfect for Deedlit!!!

EpicMan@ As much as i disagree with you on Emma Watson (to each their own though), I completely agree with you on Hayley Atwell!!! When she walks up in that red dress in Captain America....I swear I almost nutted....thank god my fiance wasn't paying attention to the drool that must have been petruding from my mouth!!!

Agreed, she should be a wonderful Deedlit, just need those really big elven Ears and green miniskirt.

I loved the "Record of Lodoss War" OVAS in the 1990´s. Just recently I´m following the mangas.

He said he wants to do this in the next few years? The next few years?!?!! Why not now while she's still young. Emma Watson is perfect for this role, she's a great actress and has that classic beauty that Belle is known for. Belle looks young because she is young! She was around the age where woman were expected to get married which was in their mid teens. So really, the oldest she should be is 18. The Beast doesn't age, the age he was when he became the best and the age he is when the spell wears off is the same. And he is obviously a young Prince, so he would be in his early 20s.

Hayley Atwell, though I do think she is attractive is NOT a classic beauty. Belle is not known for being voluptuous and curvaceous like Atwell and she just looks too old for the role.

I agree with SugarYumYum, we definitely need a real fairy tale movie, not those Twilight bullsh!t type movies!

AlexDeLarge87 has the right idea! Cavill would be perfect for the Beast!! But he can lose the beard for the role though lol.

I think she is perfect for the role. She can bring the beauty and goodness to the role. And I am interested to see what del Toro's vision would look like

@booyah- ...... it was a live action film first ......so ya.... technically it was actually a play first, but that was under a different title. really all disney did was steal another fairy tale story and make mucho money off of it. As amazing as disney is and as much as i love disney movies, they are still crooks, and they've been stealing stories for a long time. :^)
