Harry Potter Beats Dark Knight’s Opening Weekend Record

Harry Potter Beats Dark Knight’s Opening Weekend Record

We all knew it was gonna happen...well at least most of us!

It seems everyone has flocked to their local cinema to catch the latest & last movie featuring The Boy Who Lived! It managed the biggest domestic opening of all-time at $168.55 mil! This is $10 mil MORE than that of The Dark Knight (which opened at $158.4 mil).

Quoting indieWIRE (check the link at the end of this article):

It broke the midnight record for a domestic bow with $43.5 million (former champ The Twilight Saga: Eclipse at $30 million), the single stateside opening day with $92.1 million (besting Twilight Saga: New Moon’s $72.7 million), the biggest IMAX bow with $15.5 million (beating Alice in Wonderland’s $12 million) and the largest three-day haul for a Harry Potter film, out-pegging last November’s Deathly Hallows: Part 1, which rang up $125 million.

We all knew this was bound to happen! It was WB's one HUGE franchise that was coming to an end & they were hoping for a replacement cash-cow in Green Lantern. We all saw how that turned out. Let's just see how well Harry continues to fare at the BO though...

^Oh yeah! Harry & friends certainly have reason to smile with dollars in their eyes! LOL

I fricking hate this franchise i'm so happy its over. I hope dark knight rises and avengers blows this wizard crap out of the water as far as ticket sales are concern.

I'm sad to say this but I'm not sure if Avengers can accomplish breaking this record. But TDKR surely can!

only reason why EVERYONE is looking up to the TDKR is because of TDK with Heath's last performance..all yall want to see if it will live up to it and because TDK was just a overall good movie! and the fact that EVERYONE is looking or has been looking forward to Seeing TDKR ever since we heard it went into production back in april!
but TDKR WILL beat HP when it comes out next year!
Avengers..will do a good job but it wont Break no Record like HP or TDK maybe it will

Why do people use Ledgers death as an excuse for everything? Its an amazing movie, period. It would have made just as much wit Ledger alive cuz he gave a great performance that everyone talked about. I wouldn't go see a movie just because an actor died. If Hugh Jackman were to die today, I doubt everyone would be breaking their necks to go see his last movie. The Dark Knight is a great movie made by a great director who knows what he is doing, plain and simple.
