The surprising news that none other than Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok, The Lord of the Rings) had signed on to play Lilith in Cabin Fever director Eli Roth's adaptation of Gearbox Software and 2K's Borderlands video game was confirmed earlier this year, and we now have word on another potential cast member.
According to The Illuminerdi, Jumanji star Kevin Hart is in negotiations to take on the role of Roland in the movie. This take on the character is described as a "decent man and grizzled veteran, as well as a former member of the Crimson Lance who now operates as a soldier."
We're not sure how advanced these talks are, but we'll likely hear more as soon as the trades get wind of this!
Borderlands is a somewhat bizarre and very violent first-person, loot-based shooter which focuses on four “Vault Hunters” fending off local marauders while searching for advanced alien tech on a planet called Pandora. There have been three games released so far, and all have done very well. Borderlands 3 hit shelves last year and has already sold 8 million copies.
This big-screen take is being developed at Lionsgate and will work off a script from Chernobyl screenwriter Craig Mazin. Roth will also produce along with Avi and Ari Arad through their Arad Productions banner.
What do you guys make of this news? Do you think Hart is a good fit for Roland? Let us know in the usual place.
