JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE Sequel Officially Bringing Back Nick Jonas And Its Core Teen Cast

In an expected turn of events, the sequel to 2017's Jumanji reboot is bringing back its core cast of characters. On a more unexpected note, the film is also bringing Nick Jonas' pilot back into the fold.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a huge success for Sony back when it debuted in cinemas December 2017. With direct competition with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, many were expecting the film to underperform, but instead the sequel became a sleeper hit, managing to accumulate almost $1 billion worldwide.

Though a lot of the narrative rested on its main cast of video game characters, the emotional and more charming beats relied on Johnson, Black, Hart and Gillen's teenage counterparts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, all four of them will be back for the untitled sequel. With the inclusion of  Alex Wolff, Ser'Darius Blain, Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner, the sequel is set to start production in the next few months.

In addition to the film's teenage cast, Nick Jonas' video game counterpart will be returning as well. As the fifth avatar on the console, it is possible that the real-world human playing the character may be different from the one seen in the predecessor. Anything is possible when it comes to this crazy game.

They were dumb enough to play the game again?

I'm personally not a fan of this, because I was wanting to see a whole new cast, that would be playing Jumanji. The only cast that should have been brought back was just the avatars.

I guess to keep it interesting would be if instead of playing video game characters the kids get brought into the game and meet the cast they played as last time. It would be like how Alan was brought into Jumanji and had to learn how to survive until the next player brought him back into the real world.

I would have preferred a Zathura sequel with the same video game concept.

How is it unexpected? The cast was literally the main reason the film was so successful.

@Nightwing1015 - Alot of people assumed that the third film would revolve another group of characters getting stuck in the game, with only the actors for the avatars returning.

This movie was such a big surprise for me. I didn't expect it to be so good.

The teen cast are the most forgettable teens I've seen in recent cinema. Were it not for the image above I'd have completely forgotten what they all looked like.

@Dart - Agreed. I still remember the OG characters from 95' Jumanji better than this. But then again, the new movie was too "meh" and safe for me.
