THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Season Finale Trailer Promises That "All Will Be Revealed"

"It's all led to this..."

Prime Video has released an extended trailer for next week's season finale of The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power, and amid the epic action, it promises viewers that "all will be revealed."

Yes, it looks like Sauron is finally going to make his presence felt, as we see the three mysterious priestesses, the Dweller, the Ascetic and the Nomad, announcing the Dark Lord's arrival.

Will it be Halbrand? The Stranger? Or a character we haven't met yet? A lot of viewers remain convinced that it'll be the newly-crowned King of the Southlands, but this teaser definitely seems to be pointing us in the direction of the Harfoot's "giant" travelling companion.

Elsewhere in the promo, we see Gil-Galad and Celebrimbor discussing the titular rings and catch a brief glimpse of their creation. If you're familiar with Tolkien's works or even Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy, you'll have a pretty good idea how this plays out, but the show has already made some significant changes to the lore, so we might be in store for a surprise or two.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power stars Morfydd Clark, Benjamin Walker, Charles Edwards, Charlie Vickers, Markella Kavenagh, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Tyroe Muhafidin, Maxim Baldry, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Leon Wadham, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.

My theory points toward Berek the horse being Sauron.

A few episodes behind but I've been really enjoying this so far. I mean the visuals are totally carrying it, but definitely a step up from the Hobbit movies I think.

@FishyZombie - Episode 6 blew anything from the Hobbit Trilogy out of the water. An unexpected journey had the most promise up until the CGI goblintown fest.

@FishyZombie - Agreed, I think people have been too harsh on this show and i'm enjoying it far more than House of the Dragon.

Even the slower earlier episodes had me intrigued, it instantly felt like LOTR and it's such a unique world to see on screen

It's clearly Lenny Henry

@bobevanz - Old Dude should waste Nori and the other 3 Harfoots and be revealed as Sauron, demonstrating just how evil he can actually be

I haven't watched any episode yet, so I don't know what that everything is been leading up to. Nor does this trailer show me any kind of endgame for this season either.

Good thing I guess, that I still don't know what to expect (except a slow burn judging from the comments on this site).

@bkmeijer1 - the first episode or two are a bit of a slow burn but things certainly pick up after that.

Anybody who is saying “this show is to slow”:

You don’t like Tolkien.

That’s fine… you don’t have to. But just find something else to watch. Don’t try and change Tolkien into something it shouldn’t be.

@malschla - there is a difference between something being a slow burn and just being boring!
Cap1
Cap1 - 10/9/2022, 12:41 PM
@malschla - plenty of excellent tv is ‘slow’. This isn’t slow, it’s tedious
malschla
malschla - 10/9/2022, 12:48 PM
@Cap1 - I’m not sure I get your point. That’s a distinction without a difference. Tedious and slow are synonymous.
Cap1
Cap1 - 10/9/2022, 12:54 PM
@malschla - lol slow and tedious mean very different things dude. Used in the above context, they are most certainly not synonymous. The Fly episode of BB for example, is slow, as not much happens bar character progression. Is it tedious? No, because the writing is good and the characters are compelling. Major difference
malschla
malschla - 10/9/2022, 1:03 PM
@Cap1 - You’re right. There is a difference… I just don’t think it applies. Tedious would imply monotony. I haven’t found the episodes to have much repetition.

(What is BB?)
Cap1
Cap1 - 10/9/2022, 1:18 PM
@malschla - within this last episode alone the Harfoots had their camp set alight, rebuilt, then ser alight again. Repetition is rampant in the show. BB is Breaking Bad

@malschla - only gave the first episode 15 mins then i moved on bro
malschla
malschla - 10/9/2022, 3:18 PM
@Cap1 - Not a fan of that show.

I disagree that one instance of repetition makes the entire show tedious. Especially with that example, because there was a narrative reason for it. The Harfoots had just rebounded from the natural disaster and were moving forward. In fact, you can even say that the fact that things start getting better AFTER the stranger departs emphasizes that they are better off when they avoid the outside world.

It is only AFTER they decide to “fight” (in their own way) against the people seeking after the stranger that things get back for them. Having them be set on fire there wasn’t tedious, it was sadly poetic. All they had to do that was to do nothing.

Remember, we know what happens to the Harfoots. This was a great example of “why” the Hobbits are such isolationists.

I’m not arguing that you don’t find it tedious, but that example doesn’t support the assertion in my opinion, because it was clearly intentional narrative to have that plot beat be repeated. To me, that isn’t lazy… it fit the story. If the Harfoots KEEP getting burned down, episode after episode, that would be silly. Any other examples?

(Also, I’m not trying to claim this show is “great”, but it is decent… FAR better than what they did with Wheel of Time)

malschla - 10/9/2022, 3:24 PM
@grif - that’s a fair reaction. A lot of overreaction to shows happens when we keep watching a show that we don’t enjoy.

There was a show I was watching recently (I don’t remember what it was), but I was over two seasons in before I realized “I have disliked this show from the beginning, why do I keep watching it???”

And neither does the writers of this abomination of a show.

@malschla - you're put of touch. Tolkien didn't implore mystery boxes to build tension. Ever.

malschla
malschla - 10/9/2022, 3:29 PM
@cadunovaes01 - this would be really disappointing. It’s okay for there to be a twist, but only with clever foreshadowing.

If it is “oh, he’s just impersonating some lady’s son”, that would be very lazy writing.

If it is any one other than Adar or the stranger, it should be someone who hasn’t been on screen yet. Nobody else makes sense.
