“Oz The Great and Powerful” imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Directed by Sam Raimi and starring James Franco, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Zach Braff, Oz The Great and Powerful is set to hit theatres on March 8, 2013.

Even as the Wicked Witch, she's still hot. I'd go for it. Just not that laugh.

Again, a trailer is already an ad...placing an ad on top of it...is really, really lame. When I click to watch something, I should get the thing I was promised. If you want advertising involved with the site, place non animated ads around the trailer.

This looks as bland as Alice in Wonderland, a heavy reliance on CGI and lots of blank faces reacting to green screens..

@BigMike correct me if I am wrong but the is the movie or events before the Wizard of OZ, it is the same shared universe but a precursor.

Everyone thinking this is a pile of CGI mess, can you do some research first please? They actually built many of the sets featured within the film. I seriously don't understand the hate. I for one think it looks incredible.

JoeMomma29 Exactly, it does look great; The cast is just perfect, and the film did get a really good response from the audience who saw it yesterday at the Hollywood Premiere.

I think it looks pretty good...but if people are picking up on blank faces in reaction to CGI places or things I can certainly understand that. I did enjoy Alice in Wonderland despite the odd feeling of some of the shots.I think it was a depth of field issue.

I watched Annapolis and Raimis trilogy and thought he would grow to be a respectable actor but then he hooked up with Rogen and now all I see is a stoner. I hope Wiz rolls a plane.

Some people just love to hate on everything, personally I'm all over this one, can't wait to see it!

It's going to be a really good blu-ray!
