New THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG "Beorn's House" Featurette

This latest featurette focuses on a fan-favorite character who's been largely absent from the movie's marketing thus far, Beorn the skin-changer. There's no new footage of the man himself, but we do hear from actor Mikael Persbrandt and the rest of the cast on what it was like shooting on the giant set.

The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug hits theaters this December.

So we've turned the trolls into an action scene, the barrels into an action scene, goin to Beorn's house into an action scene, we've completely made up action scenes for Gandalf and the elves in Mirkwood/Dol Guldur...I think I understand why the Tolkiens hate these movies

Of course they did this, it is Hollywood. Do you really think the masses want to watch non action scenes? Heck they have added so much new stuff to these movies just to justify three chapters.

It's kind of weird seeing Ian Mckellen walking around eye level with the dwarf actors bts, so used to him towering a good few feet above everyone.

Looking forward to this one!

Complete agreement with StarkAnthony and monkeyballs here.

And do we seriously have videos about Beorn's hall now and not a single official look at his (ridiculous looking) human form?

But yeah, the house looks good at least! :)
