Variety is reporting that Sam Reid - who's starring in the upcoming Roland Emmerich film Anonymous - is the latest actor to join Paradise Lost, Alex Proyas' upcoming film based on the John Milton epic poem. Reid will play the archangel Raphael, who believed that Lucifer (Bradley Cooper) could be redeemed, and he even warns Michael (Benjamin Walker) about trusting him.

"Anonymous" star Sam Reid has joined the cast of Alex Proyas' big-budget adaptation of John Milton's 17th-century poem "Paradise Lost."

Reid will play Raphael, one of the lesser quartet of archangels beneath Lucifer (Bradley Cooper), Michael (Benjamin Walker) and Gabriel (Casey Affleck). Ever the skeptic, he warns Michael against trusting that Lucifer can be redeemed.

With the film set to begin filming early next year, Paradise Lost will hit theaters around the end of 2013!
