This movie was so boring. Cinematically beautiful, but so goddamn boring.

@Lemons - Is there any plot at all or was it just mostly long artsy silent shots of landscapes and things?

@FleischerSupes - The plot is basically the same as the poem it's based on, but stretched out to a 2 hour movie. It's slow and pretty much nothing really happens in the middle of the film. In the poem, Gawain is suppose to learn the lesson by the end, but in the film, it was done very poorly and it doesn't even seem like he did. Don't expect like any action.

@FleischerSupes - I would say if you don’t have a previous understanding of the story or the themes behind it, I can see how someone would find it boring. But it pretty much plays out like the story does with some changes here and there, and the ending is less specific. But I really loved. But don’t go in expecting it to be action packed. It has a specific message and that’s what it focuses on.

@Lemons - This movie reveled in it's ambiguity to an extreme. I'm not a person that needs EVERY motivation and image to be explained to me but, when (seemingly) 50% of an entire movie can be 'up-to-personal-interpretation', I just think it was a poor creative-choice by the director.

@Lemons - I skimmed this movie a little before I made a decision to watch it, i stopped at maybe 8 or 9 points throughout the film and every time nothing was happening at all. Definitely seems like an extremely boring movie. How on earth can you make an Arthurian film and not have any action? Hard pass.

Essentially, this version of Sir Gawain is a dark-ages equivalent of a Millennial. He's a bit of a ne'er do well, lazy, desires to become a full-fledge Knight but, isn't particularly motivated to go above-and-beyond to achieve it for himself. Constantly needing a kick in the pants to get going kinda' guy.

And "The Green Knight" is his kinda'/sorta' adventure of self-discovery.

The trailer is a bit misleading about the style of the actual movie itself. This is a very deliberate and slow movie. This is NOT 'Excalibur'.

If you are in the mood for a thoughtful, deliberate and (many times) utterly ambiguous set-pieces, then this is worth a one-time experience. Others need not apply.
