The CGI honestly reminds me of Green Lantern in some parts, or like Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. It looks like a cartoon.

Smaug does talk... it is Benedict Cumberbatch.

I was totally underwhelmed by the first movie. Hopefully this one will be better!

Okay, I don't recall the elves and dwarves fighting while the dwarves were in the barrels. As I recall it in the book, by the times the elves realized the dwarves had escaped, a group of bruised, soggy, hungry, and grumpy dwarves was being freed by Bilbo near Lake Town. But, I guess playing it that way doesn't let us bring Legolas into this story (where he has no business appearing in anything more than a cameo, unless he's off fighting alongside Gandalf), and doesn't give us a big fancy CGI-generated fight scene. And is that stupid orc from the first film back? The orcs shouldn't be involved until the Battle of Five Armies, and that's in the last movie.

Outside of that, the sets are breathtaking as always, and Smaug's hoard looks just like I'd always imagined it would. I don't mind Jackson adding things like where Gandalf was during all this, but as to the main story, why not do the version that generations have read? SMH.

Smaug has the spotlight eyes! look they cast a light like they did in the cartoon when hes looking for bilbo
SwingsetKnight

Shit. Still looks overwrought. Yes, it's an action movie, Jackson, but no, that doesn't mean I need Wile E. Coyote escapades every two scenes on the dot. The dwarves can just float out on barrels. They don't need a whitewater barrel duel, an elven pursuit on a woodland jungle gym, or a death-defying waterslide.

... on the upside, Smaug looks good.

@ reasonnnn. you may be right its all on personal opinion but i enjoy the fact the hobbit is more fun and not as grim as lotr and i like that the hobbit has dragons and magic stones and no weird realtionship like frodo and sam shared the look Randal talks about in clerks 2 is very real.

but i cant wait to see bilbo name sting and i cant wait to see beorn

@CampBlood I just hate the fact that it's being stretched out to 3 films. Going back to middle-earth is great and such, but I hate that it really makes the story convoluted. :(
