UNDERGODS: New Dystopian Fantasy-Thriller Stars GAME OF THRONES' Kate Dickie & Burn Gorman

After premiering at Fantasia and Glasgow film festivals in 2020, the dystopian fantasy-thriller Undergods is now set to release next month, with the new trailer featuring several Game of Thrones alumni.

Following successful festival runs in 2020 despite the pandemic, Undergods has nabbed two British Independent Film Award (BIFA) nominations. Now, the film is set for a simultaneous release next month on VOD and in select theaters, and we have a first look at what to expect.

In addition to Game of Thrones actors Kate Dickie (The Witch) and Burn Gorman (Pacific Rim, Enola Holmes), Undergods stars Ned Dennehy (Mandy, Peaky Blinders), Geza Rohrig (Resistance, Son of Saul), and Tanya Reynolds (Emma., Sex Education).

“This is a collection of uncanny tales that will be released in one of the uncanniest periods of our lifetimes," says director Chino Moya. "I hope to entertain the audiences as I take them out of their comfort zone.”

The movie seems to have some suspenseful horror elements mixed in with the fantasy and dystopian themes, and the trailer itself is a bit cryptic. We've included the poster, trailer, and synopsis below for you to check out for yourselves!

In a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world, K and Z roam the streets on the lookout for corpses and something even more valuable - fresh meat.

What do you guys think of this first look at Undergods? Make sure to sound off in the usual spot!

Fans of post-apocalyptic films should also enjoy our interview with stunt coordinator Joe K. Fidler (The Punisher, The Suicide Squad) talk about his work on Army of the Dead, which we've included below.

Undergods will receive a simultaneous theatrical, cable & Digital VOD release on May 7th.

There wasn't a moment when reading the article that I read the title of the movie right the first time. Kept reading Underdogs, and I'm not even dyslectic.

Anyway, the trailer doesn't really get my attention. Might be due to the music constantly playing over the dialogue.

@Godzillakartt - This is the new one they sent me with the press release, the previous trailer for the Fantasia fest did have talking, but it was different. Not sure why this one is edited how it is. (shrug emoji)

@Itwasme - Yeah, that was the initial trailer. This new one has music instead, and it's for the new release. Not sure why they don't talk, but it's not the same trailer. They sent it to me with the press release today lol. Maybe I can ask them why it's edited that way haha.

@LiteraryJoe - really? seems like an odd choice for a trailer. Neither is really grabbing me, but the no talking one is especially dull to me. I appreciate them trying something new though.

It looks generic, mediocre, not creative at all. Feels like a fanmade episode of black mirror.

The trailer seems needlessly confusing, but I like the aesthetics & music choices.
