Kevin Nash Revealed to Have A Role In Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

The former pro wrestler has been revealed to have a feature role in the upcoming Ghost Rider sequel. No word on whether he's a protagonist or villain.

Nash is a 52 year old former pro wrestler turned actor following in the footsteps of similar entertainers like Hulk Hogan and The Rock. Nash was in 2004's Punisher as the villainous Russian and did a pretty good job. Standing 6'-11" and weighing 315 lbs, it's likely that he's playing a similar role in this film but that's just my educated guess.

Numerous sites are reporting that Kevin Nash has a big role in the upcoming Ghost Rider sequel. With his participation secret until now, I have to wonder what his role could possibly be? Besides featuring in the Punisher Nash's past acting credits include:

  • Super Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991)

  • Guard Engleheart in The Longest Yard (2005)

  • Bass Armstrong in DOA: Dead or Alive (2006)

  • Jayden Jacobs in River of Darkness (2010)

  • Odin in Almighty Thor (2011)

  • Colonel Crookshank in Monster Brawl (2011)

Nash squared off against Jane in 2004's Punisher movie.

Nash squared off against Jane in 2004's Punisher movie.

As the The Russian in Punisher, Nash didn't do much besides fight with Jane. That movies' shortcoming aside, Nash deserves some optimism here because he was actually very good in those scenes. With the main villain set to be Blackout, who do you think Nash could be playing? According to Johnny Whitworth, who will be playing Blackout, his character starts out as human before being turned into the demonic blackout to clash with Ghost Rider. Might there be others [henchman] that get turned as well?

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (also known as Ghost Rider 2) is an upcoming superhero film based on the Marvel Comics supernatural antihero Ghost Rider, scheduled to be released in theaters on February 17, 2012. The film is a sequel to the 2007 film Ghost Rider. It will be directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Cage will reprise his role as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider.

@grif I said following in the footsteps. Nash will never ascend to Rock-like heights. And Hulk Hogan sucks as an actor. I think Nash could have a similar career.

Punisher(2004) confuses me so much. It's one of my favorite flicks, despite being a horrible, horrible movie.
I hated it the first time I saw it, yet I enjoyed it more and more with each subsequent viewing....
A true guilty pleasure....

I think that's due with how unbalanced it is. There are borderline goofy/slapstick moments in that flick (Russian scene) mixed into a deeply tragic and serious movie. It's better if you know what scene's coming, so you can just appreciate them for what they are...

Ghost Rider is awesome in the comics... Why can't he be awesome in the movies, too? Nick Cage doesn't help things along, but there's so much you could do, still...

Nash used to be one of my favorite wrestlers back in the day, so of couse I enjoyed his performances in The Punisher and in the Longest Yard. He's a funny guy, he should be in more comedies, since that's kind of his personality. I wonder how serious his character will be in this Ghost Rider flick.

Kevin Nash or not I refuse to see any CBM with Nicolas Cage in it. He is such a horrible actor & an even worse superhero. The only movie I even remotely like with him in it is Con Air.

you can often tell how shitty a movie is going to be by the actors they put in. Putting in Nash, a fail from another CBM, is pretty high on the shit meter.

I always think when they do a sequel or reboot to a shitty CBM that they have learned their lesson from the first, and will make a great movie. Rarely is that actually true though. It usually turns out shitty anyway. I'm surprised this even got off the ground.

Maybe he will be Dormamu and completely covered in cgi and Clancy Brown or Lawrence Fishburn does the voice over. That is the only way this thing works.

@ TheOmegaOne- Yes. The only role I see him playing well is maybe a henchman of the Kingpin in the Daredevil remake.

The problem with casting Kevin Nash, and I love Kevin Nash because I am Wolfpack for life, but the only problem is he doesn't fit the mold for a lot of the characters out there. He is on the cusp of being a good comic book character. With his age, lack of acting ability, and limited capabilities due to knee problems its hard to imagine him in a demanding role.

Ten bucks says he plays a henchman or backup character to the lead villain.

I don't know much about the Ghostrider comics, but as far as the movies are concerned, 1, Blackheart, and Mephistopheles sucked as villains, Gressil, Wallow, and Abigor blew them away by their performances. 2, Eva Mendes character was smoking hot, but pointless...I don't know why Hollywood thinks every comicbook movie has to have a love story...oh I know, to please the masses...3. I have always been a fan of Nic Cage, Faceoff and Kick-Ass prove how good of an actor he is...before Ghostrider was even made, I wanted Nic to play Johnny Blaze, and bingo it happened...I don't know why all of you are so hard on him, because I thought his preformance was flawless, when he first turns into Ghostrider, the expressions on his face and body movements, really got me into the scene, to where it was believable. So with that being said, I look forward to Ghostrider two because his origin story is done, no need for the mushy shit, he is based in Romania and from the interviews it seems like this movie will be a lot darker...as far as Nash is concerned...I wouldn't judge his character until I see a preview...too many jump to conclusions before they have seen anything...for example, most of us thought X-Men was going to suck and it has blown every comic book movie away, up till Transformers came out (I still haven't see it)...so I for one cannot wait for the sequel and I look forward to seeing Nash as another bad guy, who knows he could surprise us and be better than Blackout, like the supporting characters of the first one...
