Multiple sources are reporting that Samara Weaving (Ready or Not; The Babysitter) and Takehiro Hira (Ôoka Echizen, Lost Girls and Love Hotels) have joined the cast of Paramount Pictures' upcoming G.I. Joe spinoff, Snake Eyes.

Weaving will portray Scarlett, the red-headed counter-intelligence officer that shares a unique bond with Snake Eyes. She takes over the role from Rachel Nichols, who previously played the character in 2009's G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

Details on Hira's role are currently unavailable.

The film will star Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians; Last Christmas) as the fan-favorite commando with a supporting cast that consists of Andrew Koji (Fast & Furious 6; Hall of Mirrors) as Storm Shadow, Iko Uwais (The Raid: RedemptionMile 22) as Hard Master and Úrsula Corberó (Snatch; Money Heist) as the evil Baroness.

Robert Schwentke (RED; R.I.P.D.) is directing with a screenplay from Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the BeastHercules). Filming is expected to begin this week in Vancouver and will later move to Japan.

Ready or Not's pretty fun and she's great in it. They're getting actors I like for this but the writer and director combo are just terrible

@tmp3 - People don't understand the depth of Snake Eyes' character. It's like no one can see past the toy line origin, so we got all those crappily shallow action movies. This should have one of the most successful writers working on it. Hopefully this guy respects/leans on the Hama. I actually really liked the Beauty and the Beast remake, even especially the parts they added, so maybe there's some hope.

Shew was the best part of Ready or Not but the movie was not worth paying for

@BlackBeltJones - For real? Is it over hyped? I hadn't seen anything negative about it.

@TexasAvenger - its not bad its just that I thought it barely earned its R rating and the kills weren't all that great.

Its well crafted and the performances are good but it could been way crazier with such a crazy premise. Its pretty restrained imo until the last 10 minutes.

@BlackBeltJones - Thanks for your take on it, man. I wanna check this one out.

I've only seen her in The Babysitter, and in Ash V The Evil Dead and she was good enough in those.
Glad to see her getting more roles, although there must be something in that Australian Water to keep producing so many stunning women.

Hugo Weaving checking the comment section to make sure no one says anything bad about his daughter

I’m liking this cast. Hopefully this is as good or better than Bumblebee. I’d love to see a Hasbro Cinematic Universe.

Hope she sports a good Southern accent—Scarlett’s an Atlanta native.

The most shocking news about this is that she is Hugo Weavings niece.

@MyCoolYoung - It’s more tolerable than the 2009 first film.

@MyCoolYoung - Imagine the cartoon if they tried to keep the realistic look and tone of any other modern day war flick.

After the first half, it becomes bland and dull, which is weird considering the screenwriters worked on DEADPOOL and ZOMBIELAND. The first half was the only time it felt like it was written by those guys because the back and forth between Duke and Roadblock were pretty funny. But by the time the Joes get betrayed and we're stuck with The Rock and two bland pretty actors, someone came in and put a spell on it to become uninteresting throughout the rest of the flick.

I can't wait to see her as William "Bill" S. Preston, Esq.'s daughter, Thea Preston, in "Bill and Ted Face the Music" (August 21, 2020).

I'm starting to like her a lot. Which actually makes me a bit unhappy about this news, because I'd much rather have her join a franchise I give a shit about.

@Kyos - Me too. I want G.I. JOE to work, but with the writer and director involved, I have a feeling this will not be the BUMBLEBEE to the G.I. JOE franchise.

I had her on my short list for Sue Storm for a little while, so I like the talent. What I don't like is it's yet another fake red head. So hopefully they go full on deep red for this.
