Multiple sources are reporting that Samara Weaving (Ready or Not; The Babysitter) and Takehiro Hira (Ôoka Echizen, Lost Girls and Love Hotels) have joined the cast of Paramount Pictures' upcoming G.I. Joe spinoff, Snake Eyes.
Weaving will portray Scarlett, the red-headed counter-intelligence officer that shares a unique bond with Snake Eyes. She takes over the role from Rachel Nichols, who previously played the character in 2009's G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.
Details on Hira's role are currently unavailable.
The film will star Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians; Last Christmas) as the fan-favorite commando with a supporting cast that consists of Andrew Koji (Fast & Furious 6; Hall of Mirrors) as Storm Shadow, Iko Uwais (The Raid: Redemption; Mile 22) as Hard Master and Úrsula Corberó (Snatch; Money Heist) as the evil Baroness.
Robert Schwentke (RED; R.I.P.D.) is directing with a screenplay from Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast; Hercules). Filming is expected to begin this week in Vancouver and will later move to Japan.
